Pecos Jack 🖤
He wasn’t just a b***o in a challenge—
he was a lesson in patience,
a story worth telling,
a heartbeat that followed Rylynn everywhere she went
like he was born already knowing her name.
He wasn’t livestock to us. He was family.
The best b***os in Heaven, they have no tail.
That’s what they say.
Not because they weren’t whole,
but because someone down here loved them too much
to send them away without keeping a piece close.
Jack has earned his place among them.
When a new b***o steps through Heaven’s gate
with a short-cut braid,
the others all know—
that one was loved deeply.
We kept a braid of his tail, wrapped gently,
not just as a keepsake,
but as proof:
He was loved. He was ours.
And he more than earned his way to Heaven.
Now the dust has settled,
and the barn feels too quiet,
but love like his doesn’t leave.
It lingers in the lead rope he learned to follow,
in the little girl who believed she could
turn a wild b***o into a barrel racer,
and in the hands still holding that braid.
Some animals are pets.
Some are projects.
But every now and then—one becomes a piece of your soul.
That was Jack.
Ride high, sweet boy. We’ll carry you with us always.
