Today was processing day for our White Broadbreasted turkeys. These guys free ranged, ate all flock and just lived the life for 3-4 months. Nothing special, no meat bird feed, they were mobile with no leg issues. Literally ran through the yard and pasture.

Both dressed out right at 16 lbs 5 oz!

Organic free range turkeys.

My bottles were a pain to fill so we got cans! We seal them here and it’s just a pop top like a regular soda can!

Homemade sourdough, homemade french style cultured butter made with cream from our cows. 👌👌👌. Butter was cold but I had to try it lol

Today I put 3.5 lbs of fresh butter in the freezer for later use.

At this rate our cows will pay for themselves in approx….. 15 years if I’m lucky. 😂

I just do it for the enjoyment and food security as far as knowing what’s in my family’s food. It was never about saving money.

That cream line though 😮‍💨.

Skimming cream off about 5 gallons of milk tonight. To make French style butter.

I’ll skim the cream, add a few tablespoons of yogurt and let it ferment for 48 hours. Then we will whip it into the best butter ever.

I’m going to be making pudding for homemade pudding cups out of some of the skimmed milk, for lunches since we are in the full swing of school next week!

Am I a Trad wife yet? 🤔

Proper prep of your milking animals matters.

I am OCD on washing udders on both goats and cows. Why? Contamination is what makes people sick. 90% or more of raw milk born illnesses in today’s age is caused by contamination AFTER leaving the udder. So not prepping their udder correctly and having milk contact p**p and other gross that was left on the teats. We stop this by washing AND sanitizing….

Illness is also caused by Not washing and sanitizing your equipment etc. we do a hot water and soap rinse, followed by a hot water and bleach rinse after every single milking.

We wash our jars and lids in the dishwasher to sanitize them.

This picture is of my inline filter from my machine. Once we hookup to the girls it goes from their udder through lines, through this filter and then into sanitized jars.

This is how dirty my filter is AFTER milking BOTH COWS. If I were to open this and it be colored any sort of color and have nasty stuff on it. The milk would be dumped. I don’t play with food borne illness risk.

The dirt on the top part was from my hand when I opened the lid to wash it. The blue speck is remnant of Fight Bac from last night which is what we spray on their teats after milking to prevent germs from getting in there and causing mastitis.

Apparently my Cayuga ducks started laying! I didn’t know until I stepped on an egg in my garden and of course it was the darkest, prettiest slate grey thing!

We cut water to our garden about 2 weeks ago to force the tomato’s to ripen and they are now on a roll finally! Ketchup coming up!

Happy September 1st! It’s officially the BER months!!!! My favorite time of year.

Our youngest daughters Graphic T’s for school with the twist that your mom made them all for you!

I have a bunch of non religious ones as well. These are just the current ones I have done.

I have extra prints of all these designs for youth shirts if anyone wants some! I just need youth shirt size and color preference. ❤️
