This winter our farm experienced devastating losses due to a killer set of winter storms. Watching animals suffer and feeling helpless to assist them is something I wouldn't wish upon anyone. It has broken our hearts to see this happen on a much larger scale to Texas. Did you know? Every load of milk that leaves our dairy farm is sampled on-site. Antibiotic residue is one of several quality and safety components tested prior to the milk being transferred from the truck to the plant. If residues are detected, the whole load is dumpeddown the drain. This would mean financial catastrophe. It's one of the countless reasons this has never happened in our history of farming.

Our farm's management practices help us to maintain a healthy herd in which antibiotics are seldom needed. In fact, none of the 199 cows in our active milking herd are currently undergoing treatment. I can't believe June is here and it's time to celebrate our amazing dairy industry! Here's some interesting information to use as you choose what type of milk to serve your family.

After spending a day with her boyfriend's family recently, my daughter marveled, "They only drink whole milk!" That milk was delicious, she reported, even after the container had sat on the counter for a while.
