Close your eyes and just listen…the earth has a heartbeat ♥️

In just a few days we are taking music class to the outdoors and it’s not too late to join.

The Earth Has a Heartbeat is a joyful outdoor 4 week long music experience for children ages 4–8 that nurtures creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music through nature. In a calm, connection-based environment, children will sing, move, explore rhythm, and discover the sounds all around them through mindful listening, sensory experiences, and hands-on instrument-making with natural materials.

🦋Trackers Lead Instructor🦋

Rachel graduated from ETSU in the Art & Design program. In this program she cultivated a deep connection to Appalachia and the nature based arts it has to offer. From weaving to woodworking, she cannot get enough of using what mother earth has provided us and creating something new. She also has a passion for waste efficient art. Recycling and upcycling is her favorite way to thank nature for the beauty it provides us.

This is her 3rd year as an Earth School Instructor, and has also worked as a nanny, daycare instructor, camp counselor, and soccer coach for middle school girls and children with special needs. Outside of the Earth School, she is also an adjunct professor at ETSU for weaving and introduction art.

Beyond this, she loves her animals and sells her personal art as “The Starlight Fairy” along with fellow Earth School instructor and best friend, Kennedy Hunt “Sunbug Arts” at local markets.

She has found that every child can teach us something new everyday, and that is why she strives to let their creativity run free! She says her life is “a true dream combination of all of my passions, and I am over the moon to share it with the community!”

🧚✨Please welcome Rachel back for another Earth School Year!✨🧚

🌟Teen Boys Threshold Council🌟

When & Where? 🌿 Sundays September 6, 13 & 20 5:30-8pm at Fauna Forest Farm

For Who? 🌿 Teen boys ages 13-17

For what? 🌿 To gather in the falling twilight around a fire with peers and mentors- to play games, learn and practice outdoor skills and crafts, listen to stories, and engage in meaningful sharing and discussion. These gatherings promise to be fun & poignant, and deeply supportive of youth in their navigation of adolescence, emergent identity, shifting relationships, and finding place in the greater communities of others.

These fires will be facilitated by visionary Kevin Spindler who has experiences centered in forest school instructing, nature-connection mentoring, teen mentoring, and as a rites of passage guide. To support teens navigation through adolescence, he calls on attuned presence, asking deepening questions, myth and story, nature connection, the study of history, ancestral cultures, philosophy, authentic group connection, emotional literacy practices, and creative expression.

We happily would like to introduce our newest program to the farm starting September 5th!

🎶🌍🫀The Earth has a heartbeat: A Nature and Music Series🫀🌍🎶

Words from the program visionary

“My name is Jessica Anderson, and I am a private piano and voice teacher with a B.A. in Music Education, Montessori training and teaching experience, and additional study in Sound Healing. I have a deep love for helping children experience music in ways that are joyful, calming, and connected to the natural world.

As a parent of two boys who have participated in programs at Fauna Forest Farm, I have come to truly appreciate the peaceful, relationship-centered environment that makes the farm such a special place for children and families. It has inspired me to create music experiences that complement this unique setting.

In our time together, children and their caregivers can look forward to gentle, nature-inspired activities such as mindful listening, movement with music, rhythm games, simple instrument-making, sensory sound exploration, listening walks, and opportunities to experience the soothing sounds of wind chimes, rain sticks, singing bowls, and other natural instruments. My hope is to nurture curiosity, creativity, connection, and a sense of wonder while encouraging children to slow down, listen, explore, and enjoy making music together in the beauty of the outdoors.

I am excited to share these experiences with your family and look forward to making music together at Fauna Forest Farm.”
