This is gearing up to be quite a nice event friends! @wichwaysandwiches will be there serving up meatball paninis and chili using our grass fed beef, @rotundabrewingcompany will be serving up some suds, live music, and shopping some local artisans!! Who remembers the Beer Soap Flights from last fall? They were extremely popular and will make their debut for the season at this event! This year the soaps will be exclusively beers from our local brewery (Rotunda Brewing Company) and we’ll be doing a little ode to my dear friend Bart with one of the soaps- scented with ginger as a nod to his red hair, made with Rotunda’s The Bartley Irish Red Ale and including the @hophedzgear stamp like we did for last years “where’s the haze” soap. Hope to see you there! 💕

Be still my tallow soaping heart! Just picked up our cow from the butcher today and picked up the beef fat from our collection of cows. This. This is one of the reasons I love what I do! An entire freezer of fat would have ended up on the cutting room floor. Instead, it’s made in to beautiful skin loving soaps, lotions, balms and candles! We’ve needed to make some changes to our process so PLEASE NOTE- Our pricing no longer includes the butchers fees. They will need to be paid directly to the butcher. We will also no longer be offering 1/8th shares. We will still offer Whole, Half & 1/4’s along with bundle boxes when quantities are available. Still the same wonderful grass fed beef you’re accustomed to, still antibiotic & hormone free, still 100% pasture raised with love! Thank you for supporting your local farms! It’s #wetsoapwednesday ! Let me introduce you to “Whiskey in the Bar-oh” made with actual whiskey instead of just scented like it (working with alcohols in soap is tricky!) I thought it was only fitting to use Irish whiskey (@jameson_us ) to be exact since I was naming it after an Irish folk song (Whiskey in the Jar). Scented with vanilla & cedarwood and ground coffee and activated charcoal swirled within. The “wood shavings” on top are actually shavings of one of my other bars that are made to look like woodgrain- The Lumberjack. Can’t wait to cut this open tomorrow and get it on the curing racks! #tallowsoap #handcraftedsoap #grassfedtallow

We kinda have a thing for sea turtles. Made this little diddy with some leftover green from my spicy mojito soap to be added to a beach themed gift box. Our love of sea turtles started with a trip to @national_aquarium (second picture) Meeting #calypso the 3-finned sea turtle sent my oldest daughter on a path and passion for marine life and the ocean. She’s currently majoring in Marine Science at @udelaware (Go Blue Hens!). When she decided she wanted a tattoo I said okay, but we’re going together and it has to have meaning. Alas, we left with a matching one of sea turtles that she drew. They signify wisdom, perseverance, and going with the flow.

The kids had their last day of school yesterday! Let’s talk summer cooking. I grill all year long like most. But amp it up in the summer months. This is one of my go-to dinners when we’re busy outside and i need something quick to feed the little monsters— our chuck eye steaks and grilled romaine. Chuck eyes aren’t a cut that you hear about very often, but it’s ahhhhmazing. And I OBSESS over grilled romaine- split the romaine heart, give a drizzle of olive oil, salt, pepper, and there’s no such thing as too much garlic. Throw that puppy on the grill face down and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. I eat it as is but you can also then chop it, add some strawberries and almonds with a nice poppyseed dressing if you like. #goldfinchmeadows #grassfedbeef
