We were grateful for the opportunity to host a tour for participants in the Women’s Cattle Boot Camp through the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. These ladies were an impressive group with lots of great questions, and they made for such a fun tour!
Tours at MCC usually start with a quick history of the farm and an overview of how our operation works. We talk about some of the priorities we focus on and our passion for raising good livestock.
And then, we show folks what we’re talking about. We start with the end—showing the bulls that have helped build our reputation. But then, we look at the beginning—the females that raise these bulls. And we talk about the power of a good Gelbvieh cow.
Finally, all of our tours are capped off with a visit to the goat barn, where everyone has a chance to get up close and personal with the newest and most intriguing part of the farm.
With every tour we host, we stress the importance of not comparing yourself to others. No two farms are exactly the same. Find what works for your operation and what your passion is, and go from there.
We also share that we are big believers in the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service and their FREE, RESEARCH-BASED information and tools. If you’re not taking advantage of their services, we highly recommend checking them out.
