COLD WEATHER WARNING: Believe it or not, the forecast calls for 27 degree weather for Friday night. Hold off on planting your transplants if you haven't planted yet.

If you have planted your transplants:

• Use row cover to protect your plants - KCCG has row cover in stock

• If the plants are still small seedlings, you can use a paper cup turned upside down over them and weight down with a rock so it doesn't blow away

• Old sheets or other fabric from your home will also work, you just need to use something to keep the weight of the cloth from crushing the plants

• As a last resort, you can cover with plastic, but want to wait to do this until the sun goes down in the evening and then remove the plastic as soon as the sun comes out and it is over 30 degrees the next day so you don't overheat the plant

Last time we did this, it was just me, some brute strength, and poor life choices. 💪😅
I was wrestling poles into place like it was the lumberjack Olympics—until we met The Pole.
This beast of a utility pole nearly took us out. That was the moment I knew: there’s gotta be a better way.

Then, like a sign from the God, this glorious machine popped up at an auction.
Now I can drill 8 ft holes like I’m planting redwoods and lift poles like I’ve got superpowers.
Still learning how not to tip it over, but hey—progress! 😂🌳⚙️

Going for a double crop of watermelon this year.

Sugar Baby' watermelon is one of the best, as well as most popular, small or icebox melon available. Its fruit are very sweet, has small seeds, and it is early maturing. The thin rinds are still fairly tough, helping it to keep well, and to be a decent choice as a market melon.
