Food is my love language, even though I've been SUPER busy the last few months working on somethings, teaching, working my job, being a creative, and everything else I still made time to get in my kitchen and cook for those I love. It's a form of relaxation for me when it's coming from the heart πŸ’œ

Food Tip Tuesday

When possible, choose FRESH green beans! 🌱
Not all vegetables are created equal when it comes to nutrition and texture. Here's my recommendation:

πŸ₯‡ 1st Choice: Fresh Green Beans βœ”οΈ Naturally crisp texture βœ”οΈ Rich in fiber to support digestion βœ”οΈ Great source of Vitamins C, K, and A βœ”οΈ Contains antioxidants that help fight inflammation βœ”οΈ No added sodium or preservatives βœ”οΈ Better flavor and holds up beautifully when roasted or sautΓ©ed

πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Choice: Frozen Green Beans βœ”οΈ Picked and frozen at peak freshness βœ”οΈ Retains most of its nutrients βœ”οΈ Convenient with a longer shelf life βœ”οΈ No prep required Just be sure to choose plain frozen vegetables with no added sauces.

🚫 Last Choice: Canned Green Beans ❌ Often high in sodium (unless labeled "no salt added") ❌ Softer, mushier texture from the canning process ❌ Some water-soluble vitamins, like Vitamin C, are reduced during processing ❌ Flavor isn't as fresh or vibrant

Remember, eating vegetables in any form is better than not eating them at all. But if you have the choice, Fresh ➜ Frozen ➜ Canned is a great rule of thumb!
What's your favorite way to cook green beans? Garlic butter? Roasted? Southern-style? Let me know below! πŸ‘‡

These kiddos fill my heart with so much joy...and keep me laughing the entire time. πŸ’œ
To wrap up the summer, I gave them one final challenge: The Burger Challenge. They had to freestyle their burgers from start to finish, and my only instruction was...no questions. πŸ˜…
Cooking is about more than following a recipe. It's about critical thinking, problem-solving, confidence, time management, and trusting yourself in the kitchen.
Watching them grow over these past few weeks has been the best part. They rose to the challenge, supported one another, and showed just how much they've learned.
Cheers to another successful summer of cooking, mentorship, and growth. I'm proud of every single one of them. πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ³πŸ’œ

My boys have been chefing it up in the kitchen, learning what it's really like to work the line, sharpening their knife skills, building confidence, and creating some amazing dishes along the way.
I'm especially proud to say we made it through the summer with ZERO hand cuts... whew! That's a blessing because they definitely keep me on my toes. πŸ˜‚
New recipes. New faces. New skills. Same mission... teaching them discipline, teamwork, and life skills they can carry far beyond the kitchen.
I'm proud of every single one of them. The future is looking good. πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ³πŸ’œ

From the kitchen to their next chapter...
One of the greatest blessings of teaching Culinary Arts isn't just teaching recipes. It's watching young men grow into confident, capable adults and seeing them step into their futures.

This graduation season hits a little differently because some of these young men have been part of my journey since I first started teaching Culinary in 2021. I've watched them learn knife skills, burn a few things πŸ˜…, develop leadership skills, mentor younger students, and become amazing young men.

A special shoutout to:
🏈 Kendarian for earning a football scholarship to Grambling State University. We are so proud of you and can't wait to see what you accomplish both on and off the field.

πŸ“š Lonell for continuing his education at Lamar University. The future is bright!

πŸ’» Tyshon for taking a gap year to work and pursue technology certifications as he explores a career in tech. Success isn't one path, and I love seeing young people create a plan that works for them.

To all of my graduates: Never forget that there is a village cheering for you. Your journey doesn't end here. This is just the appetizer. The main course is still being prepared. πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ³πŸ”₯
Your Kravee family is proud of you, and I'll always be in your corner.

School year complete! πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸ³πŸ”₯
Proud of all of my Culinary Arts students for their hard work this year. We cooked, learned, catered events, earned certifications, and most importantly, grew together.
Special shout out to our seniors Tyshon & Lonnel. I've watched these young men grow up, and I'm excited to see what comes next for them.
Have an amazing summer, gentlemen. For those joining me this summer, I'll see you soon. For everyone else, keep growing and I'll hopefully see you in the fall! πŸ’œ

Houston brunch spots can be very hit or miss these days, but Brunch & Bloom was absolutely worth the drive.

El Jeff and I went out to support Chef James a few weeks ago and the entire menu felt well thought out from start to finish. The biscuit alone deserves its own round of applause. The fried grit cake was flavorful, the chicken & waffles hit every time, the deviled eggs were good, and the mimosas were flowing properly.

And of course, the jerk lamb chops remain one of my favorite things Chef James makes. Every time. No notes.

I appreciate restaurants that create an actual experience instead of just relying on aesthetics, and this spot delivered both flavor and vibe.

Definitely adding this one to the β€œworth leaving the house for” list.

Our three Master Chef's in Training Keith, Malik, and Javier. They'll be taking their Master Chef Test soon. That will open the door for them to get their Texas food handling Certification!

Good job fellas!
