Josh Ogle has been a part of Apple Festival since he was in High School as a cast member of Raise-A-Ruckus. Little did he know that his time spent as a cast member was paving the way for him to fill the massive shoes of Craig Munk. Josh has said that his favorite memory of Apple Festival is of being a cast member of Ruckus, and now he is so excited that he gets to continue the tradition as the director. When Josh gets a few minutes between shows his favorite food is the Rotary Chicken Wings. (pictured with Chris Mettert EN music director and Raise-A-Ruckus creator Craig Munk)

Darlene Gisel in the craft area is being joined by the dynamic trio of Becky Stahl, Kristie Beall & Stacey Kline. The trio joined the festival committee in 2021 to work with Darlene to learn her tried and true ways for coordinating the craft area. All three girls are big fans of the New Brunswick Stew and are enjoying getting to work with the vendors. Stacey enjoys the fun atmosphere, Kristie loves seeing the city come together and Becky says that watching people and seeing their joy from just being at the festival are the things they like most about being part of the festival.

Tomahawk Tom Jansen has been a volunteer on the festival committee for a lot years. He started with the festival as the Boy Scout Leader (started the Pancake and Sausage breakfast) from 1987 (second year of festival) thru 1994 and then began working in the Primitive Area with Joe and Madelyn Parker. Currently, Tom works with Carson Roberts to run the Primitive area and primitive contests (hence the Tomahawk Tom nickname)

Fondest memory of the festival: Saturday mornings watching Diane Avery open her craft booth. The women attacked her Christmas (Santa) paintings like piranha on a fresh kill.

Tom's favorite food: Its all good!

What do you like most at the festival: Seeing the people come out and enjoy the festival no matter the weather. Happy smiles and laughter.

Meet Todd Campbell, Todd has been volunteering his time with the festival for 26 years. He has served in a variety of positions on the committee:
At large member, Vice president and President (a couple of times). Todd has eagerly taken on the task of heading up the anniversary committees every 5 years and was in charge of the grounds for 15 years (everything parking related is involved in this). Todd has so many wonderful memories over the years but he especially loves seeing the fairgrounds transition into the festival. Maybe one memory of bringing an ambulance down the crowded midway and running ahead of it to clear the crowd. Quite the adrenaline rush.

Another funny memory would be myself and Pat Young doing a skit during one of the anniversary shows and coming out on the stage with a dress on.

Favorite food, it's a tie between chicken and noodles and pork burgers.

What do I like most ?

Thats a loaded question....I love all aspects of the festival and how the community pulls together to make the festival a success year after year.

Our Story

An early 1800’s themed festival based around the fall harvest season, which offers education and fun for the entire family. Visit the primitive traders village to learn the way of life from earlier times or enjoy food from over the open fire while listening to live entertainment on 3 stages. There are plenty of shopping opportunities with over 90 craft vendors, time period demonstrations and you can stroll thru the demonstration barn to learn how items are made and even purchase from the crafter themselves. Bring the kiddos to the children’s area for some hands on crafts, a few fun contests where they can win a ribbon or maybe they would like to play a game, ride a pony or take a turn on the Maypole swing. So much to see and do, plan to spend the whole day.

Eugene Burkey, a long time vendor and true festival fan carved a powder horn with the history of Indiana, Noble Co and the festival on it. Eugene donated it to the festival and wanted the committee to raffle it off. He wanted it to be a donation to the festival. Eugene passed away before it was raffled but we are so appreciative of his kind heart and hard work. We were able to raffle the powder horn at this years festival.

A big congratulations to Nichole Bherns Hoyt who won the powder horn made special for the AFK 2 years ago. With the pandemic we were unable to finish selling tickets until this year. Nichole’s name was drawn Sunday morning at the festival.
We raised $500.00 for the festival thanks to Eugene’s donation.
