I have a couple of UFD Lakenvelder breeding pairs available that are approximately 16 weeks old.
Lakenvelders are a rare heritage breed that always turn heads with their stunning black-and-white coloring—often described as looking like a "shadow on a sheet." They're active, intelligent birds that love to free-range and are excellent foragers.
🐔 About the breed: • Heritage breed listed as Threatened by The Livestock Conservancy • Lay approximately 150–200 white to lightly tinted eggs each year • Excellent foragers with strong predator awareness • Heat hardy and thrive in free-range environments • Small, elegant birds (hens ~4 lbs, roosters ~5 lbs) • Beautiful ornamental birds with a rich history dating back to the 1700s
These aren't the right birds if you're looking for quiet, confinement-friendly chickens—but if you appreciate rare breeds and want to help preserve an incredible piece of poultry history, they're a fantastic addition to your flock.
