🤠 Day 2 of DL Bar Ranch Summer Camp 🐴

Day 2 was all about building confidence in the saddle! Our campers learned how to properly tack up a horse, practiced mounting and dismounting safely, and spent time riding while learning the fundamentals of steering, stopping, turning, proper rein control, and good riding position. It was so much fun watching each camper become more confident with every ride.

We even had a little fun along the way by tacking up one of our ranch hands, Alex! 😂
The campers got a good laugh and loved showing off everything they had learned.

We wrapped up the morning with our team challenge, “Round ’Em Up!” Team Roan and Team Buckskin faced off as their lead instructors, Dakota and Lajend, raced one camper at a time to the finish line before racing back to pick up the next teammate. The cheering, laughter, and friendly competition made it one of the campers’ favorite parts of the day!

Congratulations to Team Roan for taking home the win for the second day in a row!
🏆 Team Buckskin is ready for a comeback, so Day 3 should be a fun one.

We are so proud of every one of these cowboys and cowgirls and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store! 🤎🐴

Day 1 is in the books! What a fun and exciting day.

Today our campers learned horse safety, met some of our four-legged teachers, practiced grooming, played team challenges, and even got their very first rides! The smiles, laughter, and confidence we saw today made all the hard work leading up to camp worth it.

We even got some puppy loving!

We are so proud of every cowboy and cowgirl for jumping right in, asking questions, encouraging each other, and being willing to learn.

Tomorrow we take the next step as campers learn to tack up and continue building their riding skills. We can’t wait to see what Day 2 brings!

MEET YOUR LEAD INSTRUCTOR:
DAKOTA ETHERIDGE

At just 14 years old, Dakota Etheridge has already accomplished what many riders spend years chasing.

A BBR and NBHA World Finals Qualifier in both Youth and Open competition, Dakota is proof that age doesn’t matter when you’re willing to outwork the competition.

She has trained with 11-time World Champion Charmaine James and continues to set the bar higher with every season.

One of Dakota’s proudest accomplishments has been training Flash, a stallion carrying the legendary Dash For Cash bloodlines. What started as a yearling has become a BBR World Finals qualifier, and the pair are now continuing their journey toward the NBHA World Finals together.

Built on grit, determination, and countless hours in the saddle, Dakota has earned every accomplishment she’s achieved.

Some people hope for success.

Dakota saddles up and goes after it.

And more often than not, she catches it.
