FARM OPPORTUNITY – Learn to Raise Pastured Poultry @ BRIAR PATCH FARMS
Ever wanted to farm but don’t have land or experience? This could be your start.
At Briar Patch Farms, we raise pastured poultry each autumn — primarily broiler chickens, with seasonal turkeys raised for the holidays. We’re looking for one motivated, reliable individual to partner with us for the season and help grow something meaningful from the ground up.
🔧 What We Provide:
• All infrastructure, equipment, and hands-on guidance
• Access to a proven system for raising and processing pastured poultry
• A profit-sharing model. We split proceeds at the end of the process 50/50
• The potential to expand into spring and fall seasons with the right person
💪 What You Bring:
• Your time, energy, and strong work ethic
• Willingness to learn and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Commitment to being on-farm every day (7 days a week) during an 8-week poultry cycle
• Interest in ethical, regenerative farming
📜 Legal & Sales Notes:
• We sell live birds only; processing is offered free of charge
• All poultry is sold by preorder only — NO SALES AFTER PROCESSING
• For the right person, we’re open to developing an inspected facility to allow the sale of processed birds in the future
Why autumn only (for now)?
We don’t raise poultry in the spring because we’re focused on our grass-fed and grass-finished beef operation. We also avoid the summer heat, which causes unnecessary stress on the birds. Autumn provides the best conditions and time for our current schedule.
🦃 About turkeys:
Turkeys take longer to raise and are processed seasonally for Thanksgiving and Christmas. While a smaller part of the enterprise for now, they’re in high demand and growing.
📈 We’re regularly turning away poultry customers because we don’t have time to scale. With the right partner, this enterprise is ready to grow quickly and sustainably.
💵 Depending on your experience, there may also be additional paid farm work available outside of the poultry enterprise.
⚠️ Reality check:
This is real, physical work. It’s not necessarily long days or early mornings — but it does require daily presence and consistent care. Tasks like feeding, watering, moving shelters to fresh pasture, and making adjustments must be done every single day.
It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme — but it can be profitable. For the right person, it’s a solid supplemental income or even the start of a full-time career in farming.
This is a genuine learn-by-doing opportunity. We provide the tools, systems, and mentorship; you bring the consistency and drive.
