The dog days of summer have kept us busy, here’s a bunch of updates we’ve made to the farm that I need to catch up on sharing!

- We made hay! Lots of hay
- Installed a creek crossing to access our fields better
- Built an access road into our bottom fields
- Installed 4 watering station in our pastures
- Plumbed and ran power to the pump that delivers water to the whole far, then poured a lid for it
- Painted strict instructions for the cows in the corral
- Had some cute calves
- Bought a red tractor 😳😳 (hopefully my ancestors forgive me!)

K5 Farm added a Charolais Bull to our operation today from the Wardensville Bull Test Auction. We are looking forward to seeing how he does!

Thank you Thomas Mouser with Mouser Charolais for providing a beautiful animal to the sale.

Thank you to Pyramid Farms for hauling him home!

Had the crazy idea to acquire bottle calves this year. When asked why I got the second one I said “ I’ve got two bottles and two hands, just makes sense!”

First calf of 2026 hit the ground and he’s a big ole bull calf! Always the best time of the year when calves are dropping. Looking forward to more in the coming weeks!

K5 Farm now has a cattle working system! After much studying and review of other cattle corrals this is what I came up to work best with my existing infrastructure. I missed out Sunday on taking some videos of the cows first time through the system, but it worked great! Big thanks to Derek Alt of Pyramid Farm LLC for helping me build the system and work the cattle. This system will allow me to expand my herd with the ability to work cows, separate calves for raising and butcher. More update on infrastructure to come!

K5 Farm just welcomed 3 more Black Angus heifers to our herd. They are enjoying the the green grass after a winter in the feed lot!
