Lilly is doing great! She is eating and moving around so much better than when we first brought her home. Now that she is eating better and she is starting to take some joint supplements, we are hoping to help relieve some of the arthritis she is experiencing in her back legs. She gets very tired and it can make them weak, but first thing in the morning she is spritely and wants to explore. Video of her wandering the homestead coming soon!

Last Fall, Grace disappeared and I thought she was a goner. But a few weeks later she came running out from the log pile where she hid a nest she had been sitting on. This hen is one of those babies she hatched, who has now gone broody for the first time. Is she just like her mama, Grace? Will she hatch out any of our 15 duck eggs? Follow along to find out!

Lily is building quite the collection of cute outfits. We found this cute hoodie stored away from when Cookie The Cane Corso was little, but it was WAY to small for her even at a few months old. So glad we kept it! ❤️

We are so upset that Grace lost her duckling baby. She seemed like such a fierce mom and they had integrated into the flock well. I wish I would have kept them separate longer but Grace was really wanting to free range again. This is unfortunately the risk we take with free ranging, but I’m starting to rethink it now.

Have any of you experienced a similar situation and have a hen do this or lose feathers all off her back?
