So still no more ducklings, and since this little guy hatched 4 days ago, it is not looking good for the other eggs being viable. Ducks will lay an egg a day to make their clutch but usually don’t start sitting on them constantly until they have a full clutch so that all the eggs hatch together. We may have interrupted the incubation length with transporting them to our homestead, so we will hold out hope that Grace’s dedication can yield at least one more so this little guy will have a friend. Follow to see if any more hatch and watch this mama hen raise her duckling(s)!

She hatched one!!!!!!!! So proud of our girl, Grace, for being such a dedicated adoptive mother! How many more do you think will hatch? Comment your guesses 👇🏼

After finding a 2nd Broody Hen (Gene) and a couple smooshed eggs, we have moved Grace to our “Broody Box” aka our chick enclosure. Between this discovery, cleaning out the coop, and having some illnesses in the house this weekend, I have not had time to get out there to candle the eggs, but finding one partially developed may not be the best sign for hatching outcomes. Follow to see what happens!

She is being such a great adoptive duck mother. Tomorrow we will candle the eggs to see which ones are growing and which ones are duds and need to be thrown out. Follow to see how many are showing growth!
