Fifteen inches of rain in 24 hours, on top of eighteen inches in the last two weeks… and our 3,000 baby transplants just sit, waiting for a break in the weather. 🌧️
The flowers in these photos are exactly what these little starts will become once we can get into the fields, finish making beds, and finally plant. We can’t wait too long or they’ll outgrow their trays, but the ground is still too soggy to work.
This season has been a tough balancing act—just trying to keep summer flowers going while also dreaming ahead to fall blooms. Farming isn’t always pretty, but it’s always hopeful.

Bittersweet day here at La Terre Farms.

After many years of adventures, escapes, calf arrivals, pond visits, and more than a few attempts to outsmart us, our little cattle herd has moved on to a new home.

Freckles has been part of our farm family for nearly eight years, and together with Samson, Beignet, Buddy, City Lou, and the calves, they brought us countless stories and memories. They were never just cattle—they were part of the daily rhythm of the farm.

As our herd grew, it became clear that they needed more pasture and grazing land than our little corner of piney woods could provide. Sometimes caring for animals means making the hard decision to let them go somewhere they can thrive.

We’ll miss seeing them by the pond each morning, and Joe Burrow the donkey may be wondering where all his friends went.

Thank you for the memories, girls and boys. Wishing you green pastures and happy trails ahead.

A little family tradition, now available in Kiln.

La Terre Farms Gourmet Hot Sauce is crafted from a longtime family recipe originating in Lake Providence, Louisiana, and made available to us through family ties and a shared love of good food.

We’re excited to share this Gulf South favorite with our friends and customers right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Summer is easing in at LaTerre Farms, and this week was full of the little moments that make farm life so special.

The grandchildren have arrived…..a trip to Blueberry Bluephoria at Toft Farms creating memories and full buckets, while our flowers still bloom, and deliveries are still heading out to brighten someone’s day.

We also welcomed a new addition to the farm family — Freckles’ baby calf, born this week! Healthy, happy, and already keeping us guessing since we’re still not quite sure whether it’s a heifer or a bull. One thing we do know: it’s another mouth to feed and another reminder of how much this farm continues to grow.

And then there was the reunion everyone was waiting for……Puppy Cosmos had a visitor from the city — his friend Tulip. Together they left no pond unexplored, no dirt pile untouched, and no mud puddle untested. By the end of the day they were thoroughly muddy, completely exhausted, and having the time of their lives.

Between newborn calves, muddy puppies, blueberry picking, flower harvesting, and grandchildren making memories, it’s been another beautiful week of summer on the farm.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way. 💐🫐🧑‍🌾🥰
