Carolina King Cluckers

Carolina King Cluckers We’re the Logsdon family, proud owners of a small family farm in Stokes, NC. Our incubators run year-round—365 days a year—as long as our ladies keep laying!

We raise a variety of breeds, with each year bringing something new and exciting to our flock.

This winter has been an incredibly hard one for us. We prepared as much as we possibly could, but despite our best efforts, we still lost between 30 and 40 chickens. It’s been absolutely heartbreaking. 💔

That said—just like everything else in life—we will overcome this. As hard as it’s been, we’re choosing to move forward. I want to sincerely apologize to everyone I was raising chickens for. Your patience and understanding truly mean more than you know.

The good news: the incubator is now running 24/7 and we’re rebuilding. 🙌 As soon as my Cream Legbars start laying again, I’ll be filling it up and getting those going. Once my Light Brahmas begin laying (which should be any time now), those will be available as well.

Right now, we have:

Calico Bantams

Cream Legbars

And soon, Light Brahmas

And of course, if you’re looking for chickens not intended for breeding, I also have my Calico Bantam roo × pure Cemani crosses available.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this tough season. We’re rebuilding, we’re moving forward, and we’re not giving up. 🐣💪

Meet one of our newest little legends—this is Bandit! 🖤🐣 I’ve been having an absolute blast experimenting with different chicken breeds, and this pairing has been such a fun surprise. I crossed my calico bantam roo with a pure Cemani hen and ended up with a whole rainbow of babies—everything from wild patterns to solid black. And somehow, every single one came out with adorable feathered legs! But this little one? Hands down my favorite. That color just steals the show, and Bandit has completely claimed my heart. Total standout, total troublemaker, total perfection. 😍

People say chickens are only good for meat or eggs—that they aren’t pets. I’m here to say a chicken can be a better friend and more affectionate than a human.

No matter how clean our coops are or how closely we monitor food and water 24/7, we still lose chickens sometimes. That doesn’t make it any easier.

There is nothing easy about watching your child’s heart break over her favorite chicken dying. Our little bantam, Max, stayed in her room for weeks because she was terrified of losing him. She would spend hours outside just sitting with him, talking to him, and loving on him.

Sometimes there are no signs. No mites, no lice, no illness—nothing to explain why they’re gone.

Yes, we raise chickens to sell, but each one is raised with love. But the ones we keep are our babies. Each and every one of them has a name, a personality, and a place in our hearts.

Chickens aren’t “just chickens” to us. 🐔❤️

RIP Max 💔

Here’s an updated picture of the result of breeding my calico bantam × Cemani, and she is an absolute dream. Her colors are incredibly bright and truly stand out. She has beautifully feathered feet like a bantam Cochin, and I’m expecting her to stay short and fluffy like the Cochins as she grows. That said, it looks like she may end up with a straighter tail rather than the typical fluffy Cochin “butt.”

I’ve also hatched four more of this mix that are now a week old. Three look just like her, but the fourth has absolutely stunning colors and markings. I’ll be getting a picture of that one later this afternoon.

We have baby chicks!! 🐣💛
Went to bed with only one hatched and woke up to FIVE little fluff balls this morning!

These are my calico bantam cochins and my special project mix — calico bantam roo × Ayam Cemani hen. I am SO excited about this pairing. Calicos already make the cutest little marshmallow babies, but mixing in that deep Cemani pigmentation? I’m expecting some absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind patterns and colors.

I can’t wait to watch them grow and see what I’ve created. This is the magic of hatching right here! ✨🐥💕

These are just a few of our current grow-outs! Most are BYMs and American Bresse (not sure exactly how many yet-AB) but we do have a handful of Easter Eggers mixed in. They’re almost ready to move into the big coop, and we also have a couple of Partridge Bantam Cochins growing nicely. As of right now, it looks like I might even have a breeding trio available.

My Light Brahmas are not for sale.

If anyone is interested, don’t hesitate to reach out! 🐣💛

It’s November 9th, and here in NC we’ve already had a few cold days and some really chilly mornings. I honestly don’t know how I missed this until now—but a sunflower has somehow grown from the sunflower seeds in my chickens’ feed! 🌻

We’ve had random corn stalks pop up before, but this little sunflower feels extra special. A tiny reminder that beauty can bloom in the most unexpected places. 💛

It’s that time again — winterizing season on the farm! 🐔❄️

Every year we grab our huge 400ft roll of painter’s plastic and go to town wrapping up the grow-out and breeder coops like big chicken burritos 😂 My big coop doesn’t need any prep, and the bantam coop just needs a few small fixes before we’re all set for the cold weather.

Our poor babies have been going through a hard molt lately, so egg laying has slowed way down. We had plans to keep hatching through the winter, but without a steady flow of eggs, we may have to hold off for now.

Right now we’re only breeding Calico Bantam Cochins, Cream Legbars, and — our most popular for this time of year — BYMs! 🐓💛

In the next couple of months, I’ll be sharing our 2026 breeding list, so stay tuned to see what new projects and pairings we’ve got coming! 👀✨

That being said, if you’re wanting eggs or chicks, just message us and we can start collecting for you! 🥚🐣

Let’s just say I’m very lucky that I get to work from home! Every day I’ve got a chick tucked in my hoodie pocket, snuggled by my neck, or curled up on my arm. They have the biggest personalities, and I absolutely love watching them grow! 🐥💛
