Quite a few of our former and current customers have expressed an interest in our progress in seeking justice from Paul Offutt for our mobile marketing stand and sign. We will occasionally post developments in this case and will eventually make all the details readily and publicly available.

We will not be responding, at this time, to those who are triggered by the misinformation being put out by Paul’s collaborators.

Regarding the damage to our mobile market stand: we will be able to show, that our stand was damaged by a forked loader, not by wind and that this damage was intentional, not accidental.

On to our production season: We had quite a rude awakening when our first planting of 500 cantaloupes was eaten by deer, save for 2 plants. The deer herd has been building and we didn’t get it reduced last year. We lost 40% of our last cantaloupe planting in 2025. The good news is that our grower friends in southern Indiana at Melon Acres and Mouzin Brothers, gave us access to their back up plants. We replanted with these plants and covered up 2,000 foot of row with fabric in low tunnels. Additionally, I have shot two deer from this field. It’s a start.

I’ll be back with more information on progress in our early plantings in a bit.

Hi, this is Norma from Pearson's Melon Farm. Today, Ken and his crew covered all the plants that the deer and rabbits have decided are good to eat. Covering these plants is a lot of hard work and time-consuming. I remember when I was a little girl, we had cantaloupe and watermelons growing in a big field at my grandparents', one particular night when it was going to frost or freeze, my parents grabbed the neighbor boys and we, my mom, dad, brother, and sister, all covered those plants, running from one plant to the other, covering with wax paper. We got it done and there was no damage done to any of the plants!

There's been a lot of comments about our market stand at Tilton. First of all, we don't own the property it's on, and we've been trying to get our market stand off the property for 2 years. The owner of the property says our market stand is his. It's not his; we've been legally trying to get it back for 2 years. After the first time having a crew there to dismantle and take it back to Indiana while we were there dismantling, the owner of the property called the police, and we had to leave without our market stand. We had no idea the owner thought our market stand was his until this time. We couldn't be on the property until a judge gave us permission to inspect the damage and take pictures after vandalism was done in April. I hope this clears up some of what's been going on with our Tilton farm stand. Secondly, the damage done was not by a storm; it was damaged by a person or persons. We've had our market stand on this property for over 15 years; there have been some terrible storms, tornadoes, and extremely high winds in this time. No damage has ever been done by the weather. Our market stand is made of heavy solid wood throughout; the roof is solid wood, the floor is solid wood - it's a very heavy stand, not too different from a house in construction. Even though it's portable, it's not flimsy enough for high winds to damage it. The timing of the storm and the timing of our market stand's damage was done on purpose so we would think it was the storm and not vandalism. But upon careful inspection of the damage, we concluded it was not storm damage. Thank you for all your support in this matter; we do appreciate your concern.

We have gotten off to a slow start (Ken is a key factor here) but we have been working on a number of changes in our offerings and dealing with a protracted legal fight to recover our mobile market property. On that note: This is the damage that was done to our stand at 2019 Georgetown Rd, sometime just before Easter Sunday afternoon. If any one has any information on this situation, please let us know.
