Yesterday brought us the sweetest surprise — a new heifer calf! Dam and sire are black, but this little one came out red, looks like the recessive gene won this round.
Both mama and calf are doing great, and we are very excited to add this sweet little one to the herd.

Started the day all motivated to put up electric fence for the cows... but of course I picked the windiest day of the year to do it. Didn't get much done before we finally threw in the towel early. The cows didn't care one bit what we were doing, but the horses stopped by to "supervise" and offer their version of help.

And that's a wrap on calving season for us! After I was begining to think she'd never have her calf, Lexi graced us with a heifer calf tonight.

In coming home Sunday night from a weekend of rodeo, we were welcomed with a big surprise... our Longhorn, Benelli had a beautiful heifer calf!

Of course on Thursday, the coldest day we've had recently, Gypsy calved early giving us a beautiful bull calf (sired by Beast Mode)
She has definitely proven she is the dominant gene when it comes to color. Lol

As fast as it came, 2023 National Western Stock Show has come to an end.

Wyatt and Warlock had a good show, placing 8th in their Prospect Market Steer class (out of 16 steers)

This year by far has been the most enjoyable with a balance of work and shenanigans. Thank you to our amazing family, friends, and support team. It takes a village and we have the best.

The first official day of winter and for Colorado it's going to be a freezing one.
Give thanks and recognition to the farmers and ranchers braving the bitter cold to ensure their livestock and horses are adequately fed, water is available, and they have shelter. Thank you for your dedication! Everyone stay warm
