Burn ban lifted in Jasper County! It's on this weekend! Gonna dodge a few showers still but we hope to wrap up some projects around here and get our burn pile knocked down a bit. Gonna put the freshly warrantied pot hole digger and tractor to good use! Likely to have the pit fired up, too. Gonna find out what this work/relax talk is all about eventually! Not sure how many of you know this, but we aren't just amazingly awesome homesteading adventurers. No folks, by day we are elementary school teachers. 😳

Mrs. PMOC has a classroom theme of learning adventure this year and would love if any of you would be willing to share a picture from your outdoor adventures that we can print and hang to share with her 1st grade students this year- bonus if you can share geographical information so that your photos also instantly become teaching tools, too!

Homegrown pork steaks cubed and marinating with fresh cilantro and purple onions in Brazilian Steak House seasoning, that shall cook up beautifully outside on the Blackstone. Will pair deliciously with a garden salad mix, fresh avocado, tomatoes, and Cojita cheese.

While we love the lighter meals we tend to have more of in the summer, we are looking forward to cast iron stews, chili's and soups while sipping hot cider and wearing hoodies. What are all of you dining on this evening?

We keep talking about what we would do if we won. There's obvious things like building a home (with so many freaking sinks and toilets!!!)(Seriously soooo many!), upgrading the truck, fencing, land management, etc. We use to say we wouldn't say anything if we won to keep the vultures at bay, but honestly I would rather they be on display so no secrets if we win, all will know.

We have a list nearly as long as the mile count of places we would visit and things we want to see and do while exploring, causes we want to support, persons to bless- we've talked over the years. 🤣

Dude! The struggle is real! With five 65+ lb Pyrenees mix, one 21 lb Pyrenees mix puppy currently training, five 8 week old Pyrenees mix puppies that are looking for forever homes and one incredibly cranky chow hound of a Chug- we have a or several mutual around us at all times. Ok Jeep folks who dispurse camp/overland.....

We are considering another RTT (preferably with annex option) for our JKU, only catch, we still want the option to remove the freedom panels while the tent is on (because we have no place to store tent except on the Jeep 24/7/365.).

Tonight we are working on filling freezer shelves with some home grown pork. Later this week, picking up some beef we ordered from our neighbors and our buddy is going to do some fishing for us while he's out working on the tug boat. We dont have everything, but we at least eat well and share our bounty when we can.

We are up and at em this morning, super excited about projects and guests coming to the homestead this weekend! We have a group of middle school students coming to camp and explore the property. LOTS of cutting this weekend! Pig pen work. Garden work. Campsites work. Cookout and campfire tonight as we get a Q&A with our guests to find out what they would enjoy here. There's really nothing in the area for kids- we hope to change that and help get youth back outdoors and maybe (🤞🏻) disconnect them a bit from electronics, even if just when they come to camp with friends and family. It's gonna be warm- stay hydrated, weirdos!
