“Must be nice.”
No… far from it.
Running a mom-and-pop farm isn’t glamorous. It’s blood, sweat, tears, sacrifice, and a whole lot of sleepless nights. Social events get missed. Holidays aren’t really a thing. Vacations? Most of us can’t remember the last one.
If it’s not financial debt weighing on you, it’s the constant demand for your time.
Case in point: our swather broke down again. It’s not a quick or easy fix, but the hay still needs to get cut. Customers still need hay. Mother Nature doesn’t pause because equipment is down. The weather won’t wait. The crops won’t wait.
Meanwhile, the day job still needs to be worked. Bills still need paid. Animals still need cared for. Life doesn’t stop because farming got hard.
This isn’t a hobby. This isn’t a cute social media version of farming.
This is real farming.
And while we’re becoming a dying breed, we’re still here—showing up every day, figuring it out, fixing what breaks, and doing whatever it takes to keep going.
That’s what farmers do. 💪🌾
Please be patient
