This is why I don’t cook!
First and only FARM RESORT in the region. An innovative twist on agritourism we call SWAGRICULTURE!
This is why I don’t cook!
Peek a boo!!!
Baby chicks just make life better.
After a long hard day, seeing these little cuties just make everything better🥰
The cycle of life is fascinating!
I’m a grandma!!!! My first broody hens have chicks that hatched. I had to move them inside a barn with heat plate so they wouldn’t freeze. I had to pick the mommas up with the hay and eggs still under them. I didn’t want them to abandon the babies if I had my hands all over them.
Surprisingly, they let me touch the eggs and hatched chicks and put them back under them.
I set them up with food, water, alpaca fiber for warmth, and heat source. I introduced their beaks to water and momma hens DID NOT reject them afterwards.
Afterall, I raised these hens from hatchlings and they imprinted on me last February. I guess now they trust me with my grandbabies😁
Everyone looks healthy and happy. Awaiting more chicks to hatch!

Ace and Captain Win Everett do NOT like Wilbur and Charlotte visiting their pasture!
Progress for the girls!! Yay!!!
Alright yall😀 Operation Alpaca Shelter is in full effect TODAY! We can do this! 💪💪Our girls need it and have waited long enough. No more excuses!
Madmax Cubano to the rescue!! Here is a picture of what me and my husband were trying to create with the wood pallets as the frame and wood panels to block wind. For finishing, I considered vinyl siding and shingled roof but not sure how economical that would be.
For now, functionality is the priority. I can jazz it up later.
I want it 4-sided with an opening for them to come and go easily. It gets windy in the valley so I figure it’s best to do all 4 sides. Must be sturdy because the valley gets some very strong wind gusts.
Well they sure make it sound delightful in this video!
Thank goodness it’s just drizzling now. The heavier rain is done🙌🙌
Me and the family will gather them and put them in the barn if their fiber needs to dry before the temperature drops.
A concerned neighbor messaged me tonight. I didn’t love the delivery but I agree with some of what she is saying.
I did reply stating that my husband and I need to get an extra set of hands to finish that shelter.
Yes, I was able to create new habitats for new rescues. I was able to create their habitats by myself because it didn’t require brute strength and carpentry skills beyond my ability. The alpaca shelter’s roof requires a couple extra set of hands.
The community has been contacting me asking me if I can take their animals in. I was happy to oblige. But…this concerned neighbor is right about me not needing to take in any more.
Our farm family feels complete so we will not be taking in any more animals. We are going to pour into the ones we have and continue our journey.
We need to prepare for winter and take the community up on their offers to help on the farm. Many of you have expressed interest in volunteering on the farm. I am ready to accept that help. I honestly don’t like asking for help but my pride means less than the needs of these animals.
YES…I NEED HELP😅 Please message me if you are a handyman. I am willing to pay. It has been hard to find good help for those things.
I cannot wait for hubby. He is too busy. I need this done before the next rain. Fortunately, it’s not that cold and windy. We must remember that alpacas originated in the Andes mountains of Peru. They are resilient. We want them comfortable abd treated well regardless.
Here is the message from the concerned neighbor…
“I am trying to tread carefully and not come across in a manner in which I can not take pride in . However you have asked folks to message you directly if there is a problem and not take to social media without coming to you first, so I am doing just that . I am very disappointed at what I see when I drive by your place daily . You have taken great pride in telling the community that you are on a “farm journey” and promoting the fact that you have rescued senior animals in hopes to let them live out their days with you . However it is clear that you do not seem to be bothered with doing minimal research on the animals you resume . Surely if you did, when the public was upset recently and you claimed to be “building a structure” for the alpacas then that shelter would take priority over rescuing more animals and building them habitats when the ones you have are not cared for properly . A quick search on google told me that alpacas do not like the rain and if exposed without shelter to rainy cold weather it could be deadly . And here I drive by your establishment today to see all the alpacas standing in the rain with a pathetic “shelter” that does not even have a roof . They should get yo choose if they want to be in a shelter or not . I’m sorry but this is cruel and not the way any animal should live let alone a senior rescue . You are trying to establish yourself in a small community who love our animals . You have paraded your animals across your property and have invited the public scrutiny. This really is just unacceptable to me and I can assure you I’m not the only one with these feelings . The community would support you and your endeavor however you continue to add to your property without first taking care of what you have. For this reason you don’t have my support and I feel sad for the animals in your care . Again I’ve held my tongue and did not post this publicly so I hope you appreciate that . I really hope you can read this with an open mind . Possibly you have bit off more than you can handle and it takes a humble person to admit they have and ask for help . For the animals sale I hope you do .”

Today’s the day!
With Finns Fierce Fight – I just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉
Neat-o!!
The mystery rescue revealed!!!!
A gift to my husband who said he wanted one. I make it happen!
Just finished the habitat. 5 heavy bags of top soil, 2 heavier bags of sand, straw, hay, heat and UV bulb in lamp w/ stand, 300 gallon stock tank, a 5 gallon bucket, food dish, water dish, frig for veggies, heater, fire extinguisher, and “spa.”
I drove to Baltimore to rescue this 5-year-old African Sulcata tortoise. The adoption process was fairly robust. These are an endangered species. They get huge.
We’re calling it Turbo!🥰
The Mid-Atlantic Turtle and Tortoise Society is a wonderful organization. I now have a mentor there that will help me do right by this little one.

Alpaca girls moved to new pasture area. The boys are in another pasture where they cannot see the girls. The way these dudes behaved yesterday was crazy. Meanwhile Cash and Milli are chillin’ and loving their new area. The goats…well…they’re goats! Need I say more???
LISTEN TO THIS! You won’t regret it. Another Airbnb guest enjoying the farm for his 60th birthday. His wife surprised him with this vacation to the farm. They were so cool. This gentleman plays a very unique instrument called a “handpan” that was so beautiful and relaxing. FUN FACT!! The handpan is a steel drum with a pentatonic scale. Each note sounds like it’s the correct note. These notes can be played in any order and still sound harmonious…like wind chimes. ANOTHER FUN FACT!! There are less than 100 skilled handpan makers in the entire world😱 The goats seem to love it. How nice would it be if we had him do his guided meditation with this beautiful, harmonic instrument on the farm as a monthly self-care Catharsis activity. They live fairly close and wanted to help the farm. #guidedmeditation #swagriculture #harmony
Dennis the Menace AKA the master escape artist AKA the literal “GOAT” escape artist decided he’d rather drive than be in the pasture😁 I jumped out the car to go turn on the water and found him all up in my whip! And one of my golden girls chickens looked like she was ready to jump in with him. Gotta love this farm life. Wish I could spend all my days just playing with animals. #swagriculture
Cash and Milli seem to be loving their pasture area😍😍 We continue to make progress on completing our pasture areas. Coming along slowly but surely…
