There's a man in my Tea-garita.

Can you see him? 😉😂

Earlier this summer, I was taking pics of my Tea-garita mocktail for our website refresh. Those pics required some additional hands, so my husband and a local college student were helping me out.

The assignment was pretty straightforward:

Fun, happy, gorgeous photos.

While sorting through the pics later, though, I noticed something.

There was a man in my Tea-garita. 😂

There, in the background of this somewhat out of focus picture, is my husband (aka the Tea Guy).

Technically, I suppose I could've deleted that pic, but I didn't want to.

When I looked at it, I didn't just see a missed opportunity for a great Tea-garita photo.

I saw the memories we made that afternoon.

The three of us moving things around. Trying different setups. Taking pictures. Helping each other. Laughing at the absurdity of food pics.

We may have started out photographing a new beverage recipe, but it turned out that we also photographed life.

That's the funny thing about running a family business. Sometimes you're doing the work. Making the thing. Taking the pictures. Checking something off the list.
And sometimes, right in the middle of all the "business," it becomes more.

It's life happening right in the middle of trying to be professional.

And when that happens, someone you love occasionally ends up slightly out of focus in the background of the "professional" pic.

So, yes.

There's a man in my Tea-garita.

And he makes the tea better.

I think I'll keep him. 💜

This is not tea.

It’s chicken broth infused with our Vibrant Morning tea blend.

Around these parts, tea is pretty good at hopping out of the teacup and finding its way into all sorts of things. Broth. Bread. Butter. Pesto. Pasta. A sauce I haven’t even thought of yet [but am certainly thinking about now...hmmmm].

I digress. [reluctantly pulls back from the sauce train of thought]

Here’s a tea-related question I love to bring into my kitchen:

Seriously. 🙄 Why does getting ready for work feel like packing for a two-week vacation?

I'm just going to the Tea Kitchen.

For the day.

I swear.

But apparently going to work requires a crazy amount of provisions.

✔️Electrolytes.
✔️Snacks.
✔️Water bottle.
✔️Sparkling water.
✔️Medicine.
✔️Neck fan.
✔️Notebook.
✔️Phone.
✔️Phone charger.
✔️Purse.
✔️Cane.
✔️Sometimes my laptop.
✔️Random work packages that need to be taken to the kitchen (like extra gloves).
..and all the other assorted things that apparently need to travel with me for a single day in the Tea Kitchen.

Oh yeah...and lunch.

Can't forget that. 😂

By the time everything is packed, I look less like I'm heading to work and more like I'm prepared for an unexpected layover in a small European country.

But here's the funny thing.

Every single one of those things has earned its place in my "going to the Tea Kitchen" bag.

Who knows what'll be added to the bag tomorrow. 🤷

So yes, the amount of luggage may suggest that I'm leaving for approximately fourteen days.

But I'm really not.

I'm going to work.

For the day.

Honest.

Meet the Tea-mosa. 🥂

Florida Sunrise + Bubbly + a little simple syrup.

That's it.

Turns out, tea is perfectly capable of getting a little fancy all by itself. 😂

This is one of the things I love about playing around with tea.

Sometimes you don't have to completely reinvent something.

You just have to look at something familiar and wonder...

There’s a living room in my Tea Kitchen.

No, really.

✅Two couches.

✅A rug.

✅Games.

✅A dining room table.

I’m guessing this is perhaps not what you were picturing when I said I make tea in a commercial kitchen.

At first these things might seem a little out of place, but spend enough time there and it starts to make perfect sense.

Kids have played games on that rug.

There've been times I stretched out on one of those couches. Times when my body informed me it was going on strike. (Apparently sitting on a stool to make tea was no longer an acceptable compromise).

Customers have stopped by to pick up special orders, and I’m able to welcome them into a warm, inviting environment.

People have gathered around that table to talk business, share ideas, eat lunch, and laugh their heads off.

Somewhere along the way, that slightly odd-for-a-commercial-kitchen little living room became part of the rhythm of the tea kitchen.

Not because we planned it that way.

Life just sort of moved in.

Tea gets made in the next room.

Life happens in this one.

A gentle reminder for today—and perhaps one I needed as well.💜

I've had it with cinnamon...

There. I said it.

I spent a good portion of yesterday at the tea kitchen making cinnamon-heavy blends.

I like cinnamon.

Really, I do.

But there apparently comes a point when you've had enough.

I reached that point yesterday.

🥄 Cinnamon in the scoop.

🫖 Cinnamon in the tea.

💨 Cinnamon in the air.

✋ ️Cinnamon on my gloves.

👓 Cinnamon dust on my glasses because apparently I needed to SEE cinnamon everywhere too, lol.

…and, given what we've already established about working in the tea kitchen, cinnamon was almost certainly in my nostrils.🤦‍♀️

By the end of the day, I didn't even want a mug of cinnamon tea.

I absolutely didn't want to even think about cinnamon.

I didn't even want a cinnamon roll.😲

Cinnamon and I simply needed some space.

Tomorrow, cinnamon and I can be friends again, but for now we're on a break.
