Maybe I'm overreacting, but this driveway has me second-guessing myself.

We just invested $10,800 in a new concrete driveway, and although the finish looks great, the layout isn't what I imagined. The large grass strip between the tire tracks makes it look more like a pair of concrete paths than a traditional driveway.

The contractor says it's intentional, cost-effective, and aesthetically pleasing. I get the concept, but from certain angles it honestly looks like the middle section was forgotten altogether.

Curious what others think—does this style look good to you, or would it feel a little unfinished?

A properly installed P-Trap is a vital part of every sink drainage system. It retains a small amount of water that acts as a seal, preventing foul sewer gases, insects, and unpleasant odors from entering the building.
Good plumbing is not just about water flow—it's also about protecting health and safety. 💧🔧

My neighbor just built a deck about 3 inches from my fence, and honestly, I'm having a hard time understanding the thought process. 😒
Maybe I'm missing something, but when you're building a structure that close to a property line, wouldn't you at least talk to the neighbor first?
Now I've got a massive deck practically hanging over the fence line, zero privacy, and almost no space to access that side of the yard.
I get that people have the right to improve their property.
But there's a difference between "can build it" and "should build it."
At some point, basic consideration for the people living next door has to matter.
So I'm curious:
Would this bother you, or am I overreacting to having a deck built just inches from my fence?

I still can’t believe how many people fall for the oil change hustle. Engine oil doesn’t suddenly “go bad” every 3,000 miles like those quick-lube places claim. Oil doesn’t expire, rot, or stop working just because a sticker says it’s time. The only thing that really wears out is the oil filter. Once it clogs, it can’t filter properly anymore — that’s when you change it, not the perfectly good oil.
Think about it: the oil is just looping around in a closed system. It’s not sitting in the sun getting ruined. As long as the level is okay and the filter is doing its job, the oil is fine. But shops won’t tell you that because their profits depend on convincing everyone their engine will blow up if they don’t come back every few thousand miles.
I’ve been running the same oil way longer than “recommended,” just swapping the filter when needed. No blown engines, no sludge, no problems. Most of these “maintenance schedules” are just ways to keep the service department busy.

The pool project is coming together nicely. We used this phase of the build as a great learning opportunity for a couple of the newer crew members, giving them some valuable hands-on experience. We also got to break out the stone form liners, which always add a nice touch. Really happy with how the finished texture turned out.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but if a wall needs the shower glass to keep it from wobbling, that feels like a problem. 😅
We're remodeling our shower and replacing a full wall with a tiled pony wall. During framing, I noticed the studs were almost an inch out of level. The contractor fixed them after I pointed it out and blamed the helper.
Now the wall still has some movement, and I was told not to worry because the glass panel will help stiffen everything up.
That explanation didn't exactly boost my confidence.
If this were your project, would you let them continue with drywall and tile, or would you insist on additional reinforcement before anything gets covered up?
