World bee 🐝 day was this week so we opened up the hives to do a hive inspection!!! Good thing we did (we had one scheduled for the 1st) the girls were already needing more room added in only a week!! Each hive now has two deep boxes. Even though the main body deep has medium frames in it because our NUCs were mediums but they’re filling them up nicely as you can see one drawing comb down 🙂 we easily found both queens too! Although we don’t think we needed to keep feeding them we decided to keep feeding them just to hopefully continue with the fast build up!

Our broody turkey kicked out 3 eggs over the course of a week; they were freezing but I already had the incubator going so threw them in. By some miracle they all have had movement when candled and 1 of the 3 just hatched this morning! Maybe by some miracle the other two will also hatch and they’ll all survive! Not knowing exactly how long they were in the cycle and guessing humidity levels etc was nerve wrenching but to see at least one hatch is epic! She kicked them out of the nest for a reason.... usually they’re dead or not developed etc but somehow it made it. Fingers crossed for the other 2 and the rest of her clutch 🙂

In spite of the polar vortex our geese hatched out 5 goslings, 3 boys and 2 girls. Fingers crossed they make it! We’ve been trying to grow this flock and lost the spring’s 2 goslings in June and an adult female in November.
