Rain or shine, the animals need care. Yesterday was an extra wet day for everyone on the farm!

Back story . . .
We moved part of our fold and we were standing there watching them graze.
Me: "I guess we should get other stuff done."
Andrew: "Yup"
Many minutes later . . .
Me: "So how much longer should we stand here?"
Andrew: "We paid a lot of money for this view."
🤣🤣🤣

Oh Penelope. . .
We moved her to a new pen today because she was getting picked on and not getting enough food. Well she decided to go for a late night stroll. We are thankful that a neighbor saw her and reached out about her and the very big bear she saw.
She is now back home and extra secured in her pen. Hopefully she doesn't find any new escape routes.

It's spay and neuter day!
You guys came through earlier this year when we took another drop off to be spayed, so we are asking for help again. We have one cat that was dropped off and another that was rescued from a neighbor's truck engine compartment.
We need a total of $80 to cover their appointments today. After recovery they will be allowed to roam the farm if they please, but at least they won't contribute to the cat population.
Any little bit helps, donations can be sent to: https://venmo.com/code?user_id=4039002537592329827&created=1789730768

Happy Labor Day!
As farmers we really don't get days off but we did spend some time away from the farm today. We spent time with family, picked apples, and checked on our grapes.
Back home we took care of the normal farm chores, helped a chicken out that had bumble foot, and of course got some highland cow kisses.

Thank you HR Wentzel Sons, Inc for supporting her and 4-H, by buying her dairy beef steer at the auction this evening.

I know, I know, it's not one of our highlands but horned cattle aren't allowed at our county fair. So this girl poured her energy into a dairy beef steer this year.
He's a bit of a handful so she says she will be happy for him to go but I have a feeling there will still be some tears.

If you love highland cows and want to hang one on your tree, you can buy these adorable ornaments on Saturday, August 8th at the Lititz Rotary Craft Show. (8am-3pm)
James will have other wood burned ornaments and bookmarks and Chloe will have her wooden flower magnets. I will have some baby/toddler items and highland cow blankets. You can find us near Linden Hall School for Girls.
We may not have any of our real coos with us tomorrow but we'd still love to see you, so stop on by!
