Life has been crazy. . . Maybe one day I will share publicly, when we are on the other side of the mess we've been dealing with.
On another note, today we celebrated this young man's birthday. Two days ago he called me to the back of the barn to show me that he had gotten the halter on Dolly. We've been working with Dolly (Cash still isn't a fan) on brushing and James started to introduce her to the halter on his own. He's certainly won Dolly's love and we are proud of the initiative he took, when it came to halter training her.

We started weaning on Sunday and things have been going well. Everyone is going to have their opinion on when and how to wean. This is our first calf weaning on the farm, so we observed the cows and calves nursing patterns over the last couple of months and decided it was time.

Sunday morning farm life . . .

I rolled into church late this morning, smelling like barn and afterbirth but hey I made it.
Wilbur had her piglets this morning. I literally walked into the barn as she was passing her placenta. She had four but one was dead. We believe it isn't dead until it is warm and dead but unfortunately we couldn't bring her back.

Then we saved a pigeon from one of the barn cats. We cleaned it up and made it a nest in a crate before reaching out to a neighbor that raises pigeons for advice.

If your questioning the beer, no it wasn't for me, even though it was definitely a morning. We mixed it into Wilbur's food since she was being snippy with the babies. The good news is that she calmed down and is letting the piglets nurse. Colostrum is very important in those first few hours.

If you made it this far, congratulations! I hope your Sunday is relaxing and less eventful than ours.

No jokes here! T-shirts have arrived!

However the heather maroon looks more purple than maroon. So if you pre-ordered that color and absolutely hate it, let us know and we will provide you with a different option. (Green is true to original picture, it just didn't photograph well in the direct noon sun.)

Side note . . . Did you notice the hot pink? Our daughter wanted a brighter option for herself so we ordered a limited # of shirts in that color as well.

Is your day really complete without Dolly's sandpaper tongue going across your face?
Side note, yes, I washed my face. As much as I love that girl, I know where that mouth has been. Plus after the kids and I got hit with a stomach bug last week, I'm good on being sick for a very long time.

Meet Jeff!
Our newest addition to the farm, he will only be here for 5 short months. Chloe decided that she wanted to do dairy beef as a 4-H project this year.
We are hoping she loves showing and wants to show our highlands in the future.

There's something new on the farm! Any guesses?Hint: It is this little lady's responsibility.
