Beautiful picture of the Stapler House on Mirror Lake Road, Yardley, across from Patterson Farm.

The NHA is deeply grateful to the Stapler family for their donation of a stunning 1907 photograph of Mirror Lake Farm’s Victorian farmhouse, captured by Newtown photographer William E. Randall. This beautifully preserved image, showing Eugene and Ruth in their carriage and Robert and Marian on the bench, is a meaningful addition to our shared community history.

Mirror Lake Farm was originally named “Maple Vale Farm” -- 100+ acres of fields and pastures that were once filled with "cow corn" and dairy cows. The property included a Victorian farmhouse (pictured) and the Biles farmhouse.

HFI would like to wish a happy 325th wedding Anniversary to John Sotcher and Mary (Loftus) Sotcher.

Wed on August 16th, 1701, John and Mary both worked for William Penn at Pennsbury Manor, with John serving as the property's overseer and Mary as its head housekeeper. They were married at the Falls Meetinghouse with Penn himself in attendance. The wedding was actually moved up so that Penn could be present before a planned return trip to England. John and Mary's home was Three Arches, a historic property now owned by Falls Township, located on Trenton Rd.

A property deed from 1773 for land in Fallsington sold my their grandson, also named John Sotcher, was recently gifted to Historic Fallsington Inc, and can be viewed by HFI members in our archives.

Sincere thanks to all the volunteers who came out today to kick off the Satterthwaite House shutter restoration. Each attendee brings unique skills or restoration experience to the project and we couldn’t be more excited about the future of Satterthwaite House. Thank you, all!
