⛺️SUMMER TENT DRIVE⛺️

✊🏽Solidarity Needed✊🏽

We have had a lot of requests for some much needed supplies and the most common item people have been asking for is a tent. The second most requested item has been coolers. Other donations we always need, especially right now, are cases of water and powdered drink mixes. 💦

Help us help those who need us now more than ever. Help us prove to them that there are still people in this community who care about them by helping us to get them some essential survival gear. ❤️‍🔥

If you would like to know why this is such an urgent call to action then please read what we wrote below in the comments section. 👀

GLOBAL STATEMENT OF THE ANARCHOPACIFIST FOOD NOT BOMBS MOVEMENT ON THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE

When those in power wage wars, it’s the disempowered masses who suffer. Neither the political, nor the economical, nor the religious, nor the media elite benefitting from military conflicts die in wars, it’s ordinary people who pay the full price.

We are angry and we are hurt by the War in Ukraine. Our fellow anarchists and other antiauthoritarian activists in Russia and Ukraine are seeing their lives violently destroyed by the politicians backed by oligarchs, religious fanatics and profit-driven media moguls.

We are, however, also inspired by the firm resistance of all our brothers and sisters around the alterglobalistic world who stand up together with us for peace, freedom, love and equity, who continue to self-organize despite great risk and personal cost. Our mutual aid in self-empowerment across borders is bound to create the critical mass needed to sustain a non-violent chain reaction of proper democratization in all fields of life. Power is bound to rest with the people who care and dare for the elimination of all kinds of violence, the termination of all social, political and economic inequality. All violence shall be deflected back to its source, all inequality shall be rendered illegal. The black-and-white flag shall stand high and our battle cry shall echo in every corner of Mother Earth:

Come stand with us tonight as we Fight for Justice for the Family of 19 year old Isaiah Williams.

Suspect charged in North Las Vegas shooting spree that killed 3

When Mayor Goodman and other “representatives” blame our city’s problems on houseless people it only fosters more hatred toward our unhoused neighbors. Government purposefully does this. They continue to use poor people as a scapegoat for their own failings as self-proclaimed “public servants.” They achieve this with the help of local media. They do it by perpetuating FALSE negative stereotypes, then they make sure to sprinkle in a lil dehumanizing language, and then, worst of all, they pass laws that specifically target these poor people…but not us so who cares right? It doesn’t affect you. And that’s the point! Their goal is to get you to see unsheltered folks not as your fellow human beings, not as a whole person who is struggling and is a part of your community. They brainwash people into thinking that they are something separate. They just stick to their same script over and over again cuz it’s always worked for them. They’re sure to hit all of the same tired old talking points. All so that they can manipulate the masses into thinking that they’re better than a houseless person. This is a supremacy mindset that they hope to cultivate within all of us. Just like white supremacists, they get people to actually believe that they are better than the next person. To view them as something less than human.

Tristan Tidwell is the latest example of just how harmful The State’s propaganda truly can be. He actually said “anything without a home gets terminated” and that “homeless people should be put down.”

This article is just one example of yet another serial killer that preyed upon people living on the streets of Las Vegas.

One of the main lies that politicians love to spew is that all homeless people are dangerous criminals when in fact, this myth was debunked by their own statistics. The opposite is true. Our houseless family members are far more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than they are to commit violence against others.

Please read this article and share the flyer for tomorrow’s vigil. Flyer is in the comments

Thank you Caitlyn Caruso for putting this all together ✊

Good morning to all of you loving & caring Las Vegans

We’re asking all homeless allies to please join us this afternoon at 5pm to stand in solidarity with the most vulnerable members of our community as we honor the deaths of three of our houseless neighbors: Oliver Hillman, Jorge Godoy-Lua, and John Doe (yet to be identified).

Last Monday, they were gunned down in cold blood by Tristan Tidwell. He said “anything without a home gets terminated” and that “homeless people should be put down.”

This isn’t the first time Vegas has fallen victim to a serial killer who preyed specifically on members of our community who live on the streets. This is a pattern at this point and, if you ask me, it is a direct result of the continual dehumanization of houseless people by our local media & politicians.

One of the main lies that these politicians love to spew is that all houseless people are dangerous criminals when in fact, this myth was debunked by their own statistics. The opposite is true. Our houseless family members are far more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than they are to commit violence against others.

Please join us as we hold vigil for our lost neighbors. We will be meeting on the corner of North Las Vegas Blvd. and Lake Mead Boulevard near Silver Nugget Casino.

Thank you so much Caitlyn Caruso for putting this vigil together ✊

"The DOJ, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said, will examine a handful of issues, including whether the Phoenix Police Department uses excessive force, engages in discriminatory policing practices or 'violates the rights of individuals experiencing homelessness by seizing and disposing of their belongings in a manner that violates the Constitution.'"

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is launching a probe of the city of Phoenix and its police department, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke announced Thursday afternoon.

“You came with your guns, you arrested me, brought me in here, you’ve got all my possessions. You keep ’em,” he told a judge at a hearing Wednesday. “I’ll sit here with your uniform on until I rot, sir.”

For almost three decades, 81-year-old David Lidstone has lived in the woods of New Hampshire along the Merrimack River in a small cabin adorned with solar panels. As the owner of the land seeks to tear down the cabin, Lidstone has been jailed since July 15 on a civil contempt sanction. Jodie Gedeon,...

Mich. county officials used federal Covid relief money for bonuses

Some of them took more than their regular salary as a bonus.

"The money, described as 'hazard pay,' included $25,000 for Jeremy Root, chairman of the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners.

The mostly rural county, between Lansing and Flint, has a population of 68,000.

Commissioners — all Republicans — last week voted to award money to county employees. It ranged from $25,000 for administrators to $2,000 for cleaning staff. All workers got at least $1,000.

Commissioners are paid $10,000 a year for their part-time job, plus a stipend for meetings.

Besides Root, commissioners John Plowman and Brandon Marks each received $10,000 in extra cash, and the other four commissioners got $5,000 each, MLive.com said.

'I think that I earned it,' Commissioner Cindy Garber said. 'I work really hard at this job. I was here in-person all through this crazy year.'"

Thank you for all the work done with this page and the continued outreach and community efforts that Food Not Bombs has had with Las Vegas. I recently watched a film called the Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World by Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell and it motivated me to begin researching and supporting grassroots projects and volunteer groups across the country, both to find groups within my community and to learn and appreciate those at a distance from me. I thought this film might be enjoyed here as well, as it discusses the impressive and awe-inspiring influx of millennials and younger generations taking part in this era of activism, with many millennials marking their generation as one of the most politically active and persistent groups in years, as more and more continue to take on leadership positions in activist groups and local and state politics. It and groups like these help remind me of the human desire to help one another and the necessity for community and the uplifting of marginalized voices, especially as systemically oppressive legislators are making the country's future look bleaker and bleaker. Still, the film shows the audience with interviews with millennial leaders and celebrity activists like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Chase Iron Eyes, Shailene Woodley, and Michelle Rodriguez that the continued effort to speak out and join together in effective action through protest, education, and activism in communities will guide us to a better world, for those of us today and the generations of tomorrow. I will be linking the trailer below for anyone interested and Revolution Generation can be found on Amazon Prime, AppleTV, YouTube, and more! I hope you guys enjoy this film as much as I did!
