How can anyone allow this to happen to this bird...gentleman rolled up to our gate and said he found this poor peacock in the road a few blocks away...it is NOT one of ours...ever since the City ran all the birds out of the park we have seen daily issues with injured, lost peacocks, ducks and geese...we are not able to continue to absorb the costs of care, housing and medicine for so many...if you are able to help us, please go to our website and donate what you can for the care of all those we rescue every day...

A huge loss to me personally as well as to all those that loved our baby Teddy. We lost him this morning. He calmly curled up in the back of my PT Cruiser every day going to our veterinarian's office to get the many tests and treatments that were needed to give him the best possible chance to live.. After doing everything we could as well as consulting with other vets, both in and out of state, we were still not able to save him. He passed this morning about 10 am....My heart is broken and my spirit is at an all time low....I loved him beyond words and will always have him in my thoughts. Rescue is difficult when we are not able to save everyone of those that need us. All animals that come our way are in trouble and it is never easy, when no matter how hard we try, we lose them. Our Teddy gave us unconditional love, vast amounts of patience and did his best to overcome the damage that was within him. He was my first thought in the morning and my last thought before I laid down for the night. Teddy, my sweet boy, you will be missed.

We put Winston and Becky out in new turn out area that was completed this afternoon...very large area to kick up their heels. We added interior trees and 2 shade structures for their comfort...it is wonderful! We could clean up the brush but feel the animals will help with that task...

I wonder if everyone understands how much work goes into caring for the animals here at BBR...So many giving hearts and volunteer hours to care for all those that call BBR home...we are a farm animal rescue and every animal that is on property came to us in trouble...countless hours and many thousands of dollars to give them an opportunity for a safe natural lifespan.. we live in a very harsh climate with only about 4 inches of rain per year. We do not have the luxury of grass and do our very best to give tbe best care possible. We are always grateful for the tiny bit of rain we receive; however, our time is spent for days resetting breakers and making rain repairs everywhere a bit of moisture finds a tiny way in...oh my..we realiy need an electrical update soon.

Our water turtles have outgrown their existing habitats. We have purchased anew larger tank. However we need to build shade overtop and in three sides. We have water and power in that area but we need to build shade. If anyone would like to donate Lowes gift cards or cash to help pay for the lumber, cement, and tin, we would greatly appreciate it. Today our very large farm pig Homer was encouraged, with treats, to walk into a homemade steel cage...we slammed the front and back doors at just the right time to keep him inside the cage. The drugs are so dangerous for him so this was one way to trim his feet and tusks without the dangerous drugs knocking him out.? Thank you for everyones help.

We are better described as a sanctuary...we bring the abused animals in and after they become healthy they live out their lives with us...many are crippled, injured or very mature so placing them is often not the best for them..please visit and give them the love they need as they calm down and live their safest life with us...

Wow...did we have some workers this morning!!! A group from Creech Air Force Base volunteered their time this morning and they gave their all to help. They shoveled about 10 yards of gravel in this heat and helped clean out the barn... many other tasks were taken on with the spirit of wanting to help. I am so very proud to call them friends...we hope they return soon. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!!!

We have a second 501c(3) non-profit...
Toys 4 Smiles mission is to help those that need a smile in their day. We now have our new shop in order to produce small wooden toys for children. We will be looking for those volunteers that are skilled with power tools to help us produce enough toys to put wonderful wooden toys in the hands of children and adults in need of a small toy to make them smile. We are doing everything possible to gather all hens on the property to protect them from the coyotes...we still have some wandering and hiding their nests. These two tinys were late hatching after mom left the nest... I care for them till they can care for themselves.

Well, it is coming up on our Easter Holiday week..PLEASE do not purchase live bunnies, chicks, pigs or ducks for this holiday unless you have the appropriate 20 year plan to care for them for their natural life... there are not enough rehoming opportunities or rescues to care for these beautiful critters. PLEASE, reconsider buying live and instead go for stuffed animals, chocolate or candy gifts. We are overwhelmed with unwanted pets...Enjoy the holiday and possibly volunteer at our rescue to help us care for those animals that we have taken on the responsibility of caring for..we always need contributions of your time and dollars to help care for those that have no where else to live out their lives. Thank You and we hope to see everyone over this beautiful holiday. Remember, PLEASE do not buy live animals as gifts without a life long plan to care for them!...these two were dumped on the road by our fence last week in harms way of coyotes and many other threats that could have harmed them were it not for friends that alerted us that they were alone by our fence..DO NOT DUMP ANIMALS...DO NOT TURN DOMESTIC ANIMALS LOOSE IN THE WILD AS THEIR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL ARE SLIM TO NONE..

Our little Teddy is doing well...we are still trying to enable him to live a wonderful healthy life. He has been seen by 2 veterinarians, had 3 blood tests among other tests and all the supplements and proper feed he can handle. He is loved and cared for each and every day. He is my first thought in the morning and last before I try to sleep.. he is loved beyond words.

Now that we have all worked so very hard to get everything in order for our detailed USDA inspection...possibly I will get a good nights sleep...without so much worry! Yahoooo we passed 100%. All animals, records and our habitats are in good order. Everyone worked very hard to comply with everything needed to enable our success. Thank you to our many dedicated volunteers as well as our small staff. We are very proud to say not one negative issue with the inspection.

The USDA requires us to work closely with our veterinarians regarding the care of all the animals on property...Dr. Frehner and others work closely with us regarding our animals. We keep detailed logs of all care. We have complete reports, reccomendations and necessary blood tests on all animals. Our records must be up to date and complete as well as documented care as per our veterinarians orders on each animal. Emma, Connie and Rosa have worked for several weeks getting reports and paperwork on each animal cataloged and in binders for this years renewal of our license and inspection. The USDA can show up unannounced at any time for the next 3 years and then we will be required to have another detailed inspection to renew our license in 2025.

We hope everyone understands we are a rescue and every animal comes to us with issues that we work hard each day to enable them to live out their lives without pain and overcome their previous abusive situations. We give them a safe home to heal and live out their remaining years in a safe, loving environment.

Anyone that has questions regarding those animals that are fortunate to call BARN BUDDIES RESCUE @ THE FARM home can always ask any or all questions and we will share their story of abuse and recovery.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT WORKED SO HARD TO HELP US PASS THIS VERY IMPORTANT INSPECTION....again.

We have been under the scrutiny of the USDA for many years and I am always aware of the requirements regarding animal welfare...and I always stress over these inspections and have many sleepless nights till we are given a good report.

Our very sweet Teddy is doing as well as he can...a bit better and not going backwards...he is a darling little guy. The vets and I are doing everything possible for him. He is not in any discomfort...he eats, drinks, poops and walks around everyday saying hello to all his friends here on THE FARM. On the weekends we keep him in his pen so no one will harm him....but he is out wandering all other days. We cover him at night to keep the chill off of him and always have the heat light on for him should he need it to feel more comfortable. First thing in the morning we check on him and let him out to lay in the sun and say hello to his friemds..we hope he fully recovers and lives his life as best as he is able...we will not give up on him as long as he is not giving up on himself. He had a MAGA treatment with Brandy which we hope will help him..we also now have him on Red Cell per our vets visit last week.

Brandy visited BBR @ THE FARM over the weekend to give our Teddy, Itty, Brandy and Hazel treatments to increase circulation. Very interesting technology. Results are each individual. Thank you for the donation of your time and knowledge to assist our animals.

"Our Boys"...these guys strut around all day acting big and bad; but, truth is, these boys are sweethearts. They are always together so our "3 Muskateers" make an imposing sight. We lock them away on Sat and Sun so they do not cause anyone to be intimidated by their size. However, the ladies are now begging for attention so we will lock them up as well on weekends. These beautiful birds were brought here as babies by our friend Sky...these are Royal Palm Turkeys and they eat a LOT...so please bring a bag of dry dog food or cat crunchies(any brand of small pieces) so Many ,Mo and Jack can keep up their strength...thank you in advance!!!
