Completed a big septic/Ez-Treat system north of Mason City. We had to jackhammer through 8+ feet of bedrock & limestone to get the tank set deep enough. We’re fortunate to have the equipment needed to complete such a job. Special thanks to Zach & Weiser Precast for his assistance.
Don’t like snakes, how about this cutie? Found in a well pit. It had chewed on a wire used to control the pressure on a variable frequency drive causing a low pressure issue for the homeowner. Luckily, it didn’t get hurt.
We are forever grateful!
Did you know that 85% of water in the United States is considered hard? That means whether you have city water or well water your water can cause problems like appliance damage, surface staining and more.

This is one of the main reasons why the top of your well casing should be properly sealed. Those are 8 - 9 bull snakes wrapped around pump drop pipe pulled out of a well. They got down the well through the top of a poorly sealed well casing.
We got the new boring rig out this week to bore over 1,600 feet of 4 inch water line.

Hard water takes a toll on clothing. When clothes are washed in , detergent doesn't rinse out completely, dulling whites and fading colors. Soft water from a water softener keeps your colors full and your whites bright!

This picture shows a great example of two of the most common products we handle for water treatment. The tall cylinder on the left is a newly installed Hellenbrand Storm Iron Filter, great for eliminating rust (iron) & that rotten egg odor smell in your water. The 2 shorter tan cylinders are a Kinetico K60 Water Softener, installed in the late 1980s. Over time the resin in any softener will wear down & need to be replaced. We replaced the resin in the 2 tan tanks & put it back insto service.

Did you know... A foul odor is not always the first sign of a malfunctioning septic system. Call Mort's if you notice any of the following: •Wastewater backing up into household drains. •Bright green, spongy grass on the drainfield, especially during dry weather. •Pooling water or muddy soil around your septic system or in your basement. •A strong odor around the septic tank and drainfield.
Did you know... You can find your septic system by: •Looking on your home’s “as built” drawing. •Checking your yard for lids and manhole covers. •Contacting Mort's Water Company to help you locate it.
Did you know... If you do not know if you have a septic system , here are tell-tale signs that you probably do: •You use well water. •The waterline coming into your home does not have a meter. •Your neighbors have a septic system.
Did you know... A typical septic system consists of a septic tank and a drainfield, or soil absorption field, while alternative systems use pumps or gravity to help septic tank effluent trickle through sand, organic matter, or other media to remove or neutralize pollutants.
Septic systems are underground wastewater treatment structures, often used in rural areas w/o centralized sewer systems. They use a combo of nature & proven technology to treat wastewater from household plumbing produced by bathrooms, kitchen drains, and laundry.
This week the EPA is celebrating Septic Smart Week. Did you know... •Mort's Water has 7 members with their Certified Installer Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (CIOWTS) License? Click on the link below to learn more about septic services we provide. http://mortsonline.com/water/sewer_systems
