Was a great afternoon for hive inspections. Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

I've become a firm believer that heavily waxed new frames get drawn out FAST. We saw the same thing across 5 new split/nuc hives with less-than-a-week-old newly waxed brood frames with a generous slathering of beeswax.

Checked in on "Where the Bees Live" as I have our apiary in BroodMinder.

All 3 nucs from Steve and Becky Tipton are doing great - all 3 queens have very nice brood frames.

Of our 3 splits, two are doing very well and slowly building up numbers but one looks like they may have superceded their queen and have 2 capped queens and 5 nearly-capped queen cells. So, we'll be patient and see how that hive plays out.

Second brood boxes went on hives that were ready to grow and top cover feeders went on the 3 nucs (they had internal frame feeders for a week until I got the tips made).

Was a beautiful day for inspections!

Tested out the new log splitter this afternoon.

We just got the new 24 ton skid loader log splitter attachment and wanted to try it out on some large oak rounds from a tree we felled earlier in the afternoon.
