Say Hello to Our Stunning New Doe!

LJLA Make ‘Em Look 🐐👀

This beautiful black-and-white dapple doe has made her mark in the show ring over the past couple of years and now brings her show-stopping color and powerhouse genetics to our herd. Bonus—she’s a sweetheart! ❤️

We call her “Mel” for short, and she comes from a wonderful farm run by even better people. We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with this amazing family, and add yet another meaningful connection along the way.

Excited to post results from the Du Quoin State Fair!

In the junior division 🐐-

▪️Becca’s doe, HLFG Ivanka’s Winter Wish, placed second in her class with Westin’s doe, HLFG Melania Keeps on Rockin, standing right behind her.

✨Ivanka went on to place third in the junior championship drive, just one spot behind Reserve Champion!

In the yearling division 🐐-

◾️ Becca’s doe, HLFG Survivor’s Arrow, placed third in her class.

◾️ Westin’s doe, HLFG Lonestar, placed second in her class.

✨Lonestar advanced to the yearling champion drive where she was awarded Reserve Champion! This was a huge honor in itself but the excitement didn’t stop there…

🏆 That win carried Lonestar to the Grand Champion drive of all fullblood does, where she was named Reserve Grand Champion! Talk about a moment to remember for these first timers!

Our goats stood among some tough competition, so we were honored to come home with several ribbons, a little more confidence, and two very proud (and very happy!) kids. Even sweeter, every goat we took was born and raised on our farm by Westin and Becca.

One of the most special moments of the weekend came after the show: the young lady who won Grand Champion Fullblood Doe turned around and handed her ribbon to Westin as a token of encouragement. At just 15, Laney is already a seasoned pro in the show ring—but more importantly, she’s discovered one of life’s greatest virtues: looking back and helping others along the way. Talk about a heart of gold! 🥹💛 It was a beautiful reminder that while the ribbons are nice, the real reward is in the friendships, lessons, and values that come with this journey.

One last fair post—this time about Westin’s senior doe, HLFG Lonestar. Westin and Becca do a good job working together raising and caring for the goats, ultimately negotiating over which ones each will show. Yet again this year, Becca led the way in the 4-H show with what she came away with after the negotiations. However, just like what happened last year, when Westin marched his senior doe into the ring during the Junior Fair, the spotlight turned. HLFG Lonestar was named Grand Champion Meat Breeding Doe and Grand Champion Overall Meat Doe. She’s out of SP97 SPBG Level Up and AJMZ Finale’s Star Dust. This doe is solid, and we’re looking forward to adding her to our breeding program to see what her x 2M Boer Goats Snownado can produce!

A year ago, Becca stepped out of the show ring with a clear vision of the kind of buck she wanted to pair with her favorite senior doe, SP97 SPBG Big Dreams. That lead us to 2M Boer Goats Snownado.

Fast-forward to this year’s county fair: Becca and Westin showed Big Dreams’ two junior does in the meat breeding doe competition. And what a debut! HLFG Ivanka’s Winter Wish was awarded Grand Champion Meat Doe as well as Grand Champion Overall Doe, while HLFG Melania Keeps on Rocking stood right behind her.

Big Dreams’ dam (1972 Gangsters Broken Dreams) x 2M Boer Goats Snownado produced the Grand Champion Meat Wether and Grand Champion Overall Wether (HLFG Snowtorious B.I.G.).

These results have Becca and Westin feeling pretty proud—and dreaming up plans for the future. Speaking of the future, we need to free up some room in the barn, which means a few tough decisions are ahead. Stay tuned, as we’ll be offering some nice goats for sale once again.

As we wrap up this year’s county fair, we’re especially grateful for two things: first, the joy of seeing a year of hard work come to fruition, and second, being part of a supportive group of people who are always willing to lend a hand. We were fortunate to show some quality goats this year - and even more excited to be bringing home a few banners!
