It’s that time of the year to start thinking about the garden. Let us be your go to for properly plowing and/or tilling your garden.

We do it right. If this is your first garden and the ground has not been plowed, you must have it plowed. By not plowing, this will prevent the desired depth that a tiller is unable to achieve in hard clay ground.

We have been plowing and tilling for over 10 years and fully insured. We cover Clay, Clinton, Platte, and most of Ray.

Elderberry cuttings. Bob Gordon American Elderberry. Bundle of 12 cuttings $25. Grow your very own Elderberry plants. These are very easy to grow and are a native species to Missouri. Basically make a hole the thickness of the cutting and stick it the ground. Recommend planting in groups of three. Then treat like any other plant; water and sunlight. First year will be root production, year two will produce flowers and berries. Pick up Lawson/Excelsior/Kearney

In the pass few years we have taken some major losses on the bee’s. This was from extreme low temps a few winters back as well weak bee’s from a supplier that sent heavy mite load bee’s. Between this and the fact my full time job is requiring extensive global travel. I’m going to take a beekeeping break for two years.

We will still continue on with Elderberries and everything else and will post with updates as we go. I want to thank everyone that has supported us and bragged about the honey we delivered. This is not the end, just a reset. We have donated some of our equipment to new beekeepers to help get them started. We wish them well in their new journey for the love of beekeeping.

***Garden plowing***
Now is the time to think about your 2022 garden. If it’s a new garden you will need to have it plowed before tilling for best results. The start of 2021 hay season. Pearl is a 1952 Ford 8N with a Ford 501 sickle mower. She may not be the $50k tractor but she doesn’t let me down as the work horse cutting hay.

Just because it has “Organic” on it or holds the USDA Organic label, does not mean it is organic. If you research the brand it states as follows; Shall be 100% Grade A pure honey. Must contain some combination of brazil, Canada, Uraguay. (Uruguay)... What makes this organic? If you were to really hold the label of TRUE organic honey then this would mean first you have to have over 5 miles in all directions from the hives that are all certified organic land. This would include any waterways are not down stream from non organic land. Just because a beekeeper doesn’t use medication or feed their bees does not make the honey “organic”. Where the bees get the nectar and pollen from and what the beekeeper does makes the honey organic or not.
