Proud of our girls and they grid work this week! They spent weeks working hard and learning more about strengthening their natural aids, so that they can communicate better with their horses.
Hunter/Jumper, Equitation and Dressage Barn We have high expectations of all riders.
Lachlan Farm strives to offer a lesson program for ALL ages and levels in a warm, family-friendly, and encouraging atmosphere and does not require horse ownership or horse showing. From our oldest to our youngest rider, we expect all riders to have good character, discipline, perseverance, and a good
attitude. We want all riders to be better riders and better people, now and down the road, because they rode at Lachlan Farm.
Operating as usual

That feeling when your 2-point over cavallettis is on point, and you have to explain, “Ta da!”
Good news! We finally have some openings for new riders. Spots are very limited, so contact us soon and jump into something new!

We said goodbye to the most magical pony this weekend. He loved his little girl so perfectly. And we are so grateful that Carson shared him with all of the riders at the farm, so that they have special memories of this amazing pony. I will definitely miss his whinny every morning. Thank you, Mr. P, for a job well done!
It’s “twinkle light updating” season. ✨
(And almost porch sitting weather 💕)
It’s Safety September! We’ve been talking ALL about how to be a safer rider when on the ground and mounted. What’s a safety habit that you have each time you ride?
We had so much fun at our summer camps this year! Very overdue photo dump!
Farm Day Camp was as amazing as ever!
Our last Fairytale Camp was a blast and we can’t wait for our next one in just a little over a week!
We had a fun first day of Fairytale Camp! 👑
First camp video of the year! Such a great group of young ladies!
First camp of 2022 is almost complete!! Come take a cute selfie in the new photo booth and tag us! Huge thank you for Soul Ink Printing for making these cute tee shirts!!
It was a beautiful to practice drill team riding with campers!
Camp week means 18 hour work days, but we love that young riders get to learn more about horsemanship!
Thank you, Jerome, for helping us make it through a tough week!
Bobbing for carrots 🥕🐽
As a trainer, it is so fulfilling when a seasoned pony wants to canter because a young rider pays attention to details and listens to instruction. So proud of Florie and grateful for Tiramisu!
Our June camps are full, but we still have a little room in our July camps!
July 8: Farm Day Camp
July 11-14: Horsemanship Camp
July 25-27: Fairytale Camp

The Riderless Horse: one of the oldest and most moving military traditions in a full honor funeral is the riderless, caparisoned horse. The horse is led behind the caisson wearing an empty saddle with the rider’s boots reversed in the stirrups, indicating the warrior will never ride again.
Let’s all join in this Memorial Day weekend to remember the heroes we have lost and the families they leave behind.
Thanks to the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) for this portrait of the Riderless Horse. Photo by Shelli Breidenbach Photography.
We lost an amazing horse this week. She was truly one of a kind. She retired with such happiness and content as she taught beginners to canter and jump cross rails. Her real passion was for the jumper arena. And she won many trophies because of her calm and cool way of going. Tight turns and ridiculous power. She was strong as an ox and as gentle as a lamb. And I may or may not have used her gray streaks through her auburn hair as an inspiration for my own hair. 😏 Thank you, Madison Avenue. You ar a treasure to our farm.
We had a huge loss at the farm this week. We lost our “sweet” Eddie.
He loved/hated everyone.
He was the dog that hated attention, yet was the one that received the most.
He wanted no part of me, but never left my side.
Best barn dog ever.
2011-2022
We are so excited to welcome Carson’s new horse, Maggie, to the Lachlan family! This pair will be an amazing team. It’s been so fun to watch Carson go from mini-stirrup lessons to tall boots, and from ponies to OTTBs.
Space is very limited! Don’t wait to reserve your spot!
Space is limited, so sign up today!
We had such a scare with Jojo’s new horse on Sunday. We are so thankful for Dr. Suddeth for always coming to the rescue!
And riders! This is why we talked about horse health care during Fitness February. You have to know more than just about riding. Ground work is so important. Take your time and learn all aspects of horsemanship.
Mr. Jerome continues to study and learn so that he can help care for our horses. He caught this colic very early which may have prevented surgery or losing this sweet guy!!! (And the latter was very much the outcome we were expecting 😭).
I’m a day late, but Happy National Pig day to our fabulous piggies!!
Come ride with us! We have all levels of classes for all ages.
It’s time to sign up for camp!
Limited spots! Registration and deposit required to secure your spot!

Ten years ago, I survived ten puppies. Surely I’ll survive Maisel. It’s week at the farm!
Meet our new working dog…Maisel, the marvelous miss.
Jojo’s Christmas present finally arrived! (Maybe I’ll get my horse back 😏).
These had to cuddle up and take a nap after being wild banshees yesterday.
Happy Jockey Club birthday to these guys (a hair late)! You guys are amazing athletes and always willing to try something new!!
Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas!
Best Christmas party ever!!!
This is what “Dressage December” looked like a decade ago. Jojo and Tippy came in 5th at Poplar Place.
Posers.
Jumping into Thanksgiving week like… 🤩🥳
No stirrup November was child’s play to these riders. (Literally… they even ditched their saddles).
A humble thank you to all veterans today! We truly appreciate your service.
It’s Tiramisu’s Gotcha Day!! Ten years of pony fabulousness!
Lachlan riders…have you ever wondered what our competition in some of the classes at the AHJA year end show looked like?? This was one of Carson’s classes. 😳
Not only did Carson have a big “first” riding Honey at the AHJA year end show, but Jojo and Jackson moved up to Children’s Hunter. It was a huge leap of faith, but the pair proved that they are ready for the challenge.
So proud of Carson and Honey today!! This was only Carson’s 4th ride on Honey and maybe her 4th “for real” course on her! They were 5th out of over 20+ riders! Way to go Carson!!
This came up in my “on this day” memories. Never ever did I think I’d get to compete in dressage in the Rolex arena in Kentucky!!
I needed this memory today! And the reminder… “I will not live the rest of my life in regret.” -Penny Chenery, Owner of Secretariat
At least the ducks are happy with this weather. 🙄

Ty, Jojo, and Selah taught the hot campers a new game and I couldn’t love it more… Drip Drip Drop. (Duck Duck Goose with water). 😆
