Twilight Eventing with the barn!
Ann-Louise's Horse Training LLC. Horseback riding lessons from an experienced Eventer. Lesson horses live at the farm. Horse training is also available.
We are a very small lesson program in the heart of Leesburg. We offer only private and semi-private lessons. Lessons fill up fast for our fall and springtime schedules, so make your appointments early. Private 1 hour lesson: $60 Semi-Private 1 hour lesson: $55 Ann-Louise's Horse Training LLC is located at Sage Hill Farm in Leesburg, VA. With 5 stalls and 12 horses on site. 3 of the horses are officially retired and are enjoying the easy life. 6 of the horses are lesson horses, where you can take lessons on the back of all the horses Ann-Louise has worked with. Trail Riding is available, but Ann-Louise herself must approve the trail ride. Ann-Louise Markert was born in Sweden where she received most of her training. While she does a great job training hunter ponies and riders, her true love is the Eventing scene. She has owned her own horse, Glennord's Celtic Rhythm, since she was a filly. Ann-Louise has done extensive training with her horse, and competed in Preliminary. She has experience in the dressage, hunter, and jumper worlds. And, of course, Eventing. Why is it important to keep regular visits with your farrier? Regular maintenance is imperative to your horse's soundness. A common saying is "no hoof no horse". Keep your appointments for your horse's health!

The rules of the Two-Point Challenge 2017: You must be in the trot. No walking, no cantering. Ride any horse you want, but you must be able to keep a horse in the trot. If your horse stops trotting, you must start over counting your laps. If you sit down, or fall down, or if your rear touches the saddle for ANY reason, you must start over. You may attempt the challenge as many times as you want. The cut-off day is March 31, 2017. Winners will be announced on the page with their pictures (parents permitting) along with a gift card. We will also have a leaderboard so we can track everyone's progress. Good luck, and happy riding!
Have you heard of the Two Point Challenge 2017? Winners get a Dover Gift Card!
Though we do not require our students to buy their own helmets, we strongly encourage our riders to own their own helmets. Especially if they are going to stick with riding for a while. Proper helmet fitting is very important!
“Shake your head side to side and up and down. Your helmet shouldn't wobble at all. You may be able to make some adjustments to the fitting mechanism or the pads to correct an imperfect fit, but any major sliding or wobbling means you need to go down a size or try a different model. Your helmet should feel snug enough that it won't move if you hang your head upside down, but if it gives you a headache, try a different one.”
We highly recommend you DO NOT buy a helmet with a ratchet/plastic clip at the base of the head. These can break during a fall, and it can cause a concussion. If your/your child's helmet is slipping towards the side while riding, it is not a good fit. Helmets also need to be replaced after a few years! Always check your helmets for cracks inside, as they no longer protect your head. Never store your helmet for long periods of time in a hot place, like a hot car.
We highly recommend the Tipperary Sportage 8500 helmet, (around $80) which can be purchased at Dover Saddlery in Chantilly or Middleburg Tack Exchange. Another Turn Tack store DOES NOT carry affordable helmets without plastic clips on the back. Dover Saddlery will also spend time with you or your child trying on different sizes to find the right one. Please do not hesitate to ask your trainer questions on buying the right helmet.
You only have one head. Protect it well! And as always, happy riding!
Did you leave a jacket at the barn last night? If so, Caitlin borrowed it. She washed it and has brought it back to the barn.
