It's been quite busy here the last couple of days! π
I felt like it was time to move Clementine's dad back to the bachelor loft. At the same time, Poppy, my Birmingham Roller, and Jelly, my Lahore, seemed to have paired off. At this point I thought they were both hens... but also had been suspecting that Jelly might just be a young male. It feels like some birds are easier to s*x than others.
Poppy also started getting nesty, and started bullying on other birds. We ended up separating her from the rest of the flock. She laid two eggs, and just went back in with everyone tonight. So far so good, except she keeps trying to be mom to the new babies, but are not into it πΉπ©·
Speaking of new babies... we have our White Kings babies, which are a lot bigger than a typical fancy pigeon. Since they're still young and dumb, we were worried they would get bullied in the main White King loft. An idea came to mind to put them in with my hens and babies for a short period of time. It helps them learn around other calm hens, and be around other birds their age, despite the size difference πΉ One of them is very intrigued with Clementine's long feet feathers, and kept trying to take them from her. Let's just say, she was not amused πΉ The size difference between the two of them is comical πΉπΉ Would you believe Clementine is a few days older? π₯Ήπ©·
We guess they'll only be in here for a short period of time, I suspect at least one or two of them may be ready for the main loft in the next few days π The younger one may need a bit more time, but she'll get there! π©·
