What began as a dream rooted in soil, animals, community, and a belief that food could tell a story has grown into something we never could have imagined.

Tomorrow, our entire farm team leaves for Chicago to represent Montgomery Sky Farm on one of the nation's biggest culinary stages with two James Beard Award nominations including What the Soil Remembers & Undercurrent Film Company.

There are no words for the gratitude we feel.

Field & Creek Market will be open tomorrow from 10 AM–2 PM and closed on Sunday.

For those who would like to follow along, we'll be sharing our journey throughout the weekend right here on Instagram. The awards ceremony will also be livestreamed through James Beard Foundation & bonappetitmag

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for carrying this dream with us. We are honored to represent our farm, our animals, our community, and Western North Carolina.

Chicago, here we come. ❤️

A seed was planted ten years ago.

It is the greatest honor and privilege to steward this land and share its mission with so many. What began as a small passion project has become something far bigger than us- a community, a purpose, and a testament to what can happen when people believe in the same vision.

Thank you, , , for this beautiful article and for your support. Thank you to our incredible team, whose hands, hearts, and dedication make this work possible every single day.

The farm team heads to Chicago this weekend to represent Western NC as best Chef Southeast & .soil.remembers media nomination at the awards. The honor of a lifetime.

Two dishes, but they tell a much bigger story. ❤️

Everything we serve at Montgomery Sky Farm starts long before it reaches the plate. It starts with the seed. With the work of protecting biodiversity, growing heirloom and endangered varieties, and caring for the land in a way that gives back more than it takes. 🌱

Seasonality leads the way here. Elements on your plate harvested just hours before dinner. It doesn’t get much closer than that.

The salmon tart brings together cured salmon, second year asparagus, fern leaf dill, ever bearing snap peas, and pickled shallot.

The white seabass is paired with chicory, burnet salad, and basil sprouts, all grown right here on the farm. The hojo spinach in this dish has a story of its own. It was shared with Chef Taylor through and has been saved and passed down for over 45 years.

This is the kind of food we care about. Thoughtful, rooted, and deeply connected to the land.

Some evenings feed you, others become part of you.

We are honored to gather in celebration of The Soil Remembers, a deeply moving short film by James Beard Media Award winner .o of

A story rooted in land, memory, and the quiet power of connection at Montgomery Sky Farm.

Join us at Zen Greenville on Friday, June 6th at 6:00pm, for a cinematic dining experience wrapped in a love letter to a city that has uplifted and inspired us for many years.

The evening will unfold through a thoughtfully curated 5-course tasting menu by 2026 James Beard Best Chef Southeast Finalist, Taylor Montgomery. Each dish echoing the same intention as the film itself: to honor where we come from, and the stories that shape us.

This is a night for those who believe in storytelling through both lens and plate. A night to slow down, to gather, and to remember.

Seats are limited. Tickets available at the link in our bio.

These humans are the roots.
The unseen, steady, holding-it-all-together kind of love.
And it’s because of them that something beautiful gets to grow.

Thank you, to the greatest team ✨️

We planted a seed ten years ago.

Not knowing what it would become, only trusting that if we tended it with care, with purpose, with heart...it might one day grow into something meaningful. What we didn’t realize then was that it wouldn’t just be ours. It would belong to every hand that showed up, every early morning, every late night, every quiet act of belief.

Along the way, that seed grew roots. Deep, resilient, unwavering roots, made up of our farm family, our friends, our community. The ones who stood beside us through uncertainty, through seasons of hardship, through every trial and tribulation that tried to shake us. Roots don’t grow without pressure. They don’t deepen without resistance. And yet, they hold.

Today, we find named a finalist for Best Chef Southeast by the James Beard Foundation and it feels almost too big to hold. Because this moment isn’t just ours. It belongs to every single root that carried us here.

This is the honor of a lifetime and it is rooted in all of you.

Extended congratulations to our Southeast neighbors and finalists- .bea.shepherdstown & .gvl

There is a quiet moment at the table, just before a course is poured, when everything feels connected. The garden, the kitchen, the hands that grew it, and the people gathered to share it.

Awakening Gardens was born from that moment.

From soil to plate, we believe food tastes different when it comes straight from the land that surrounds us.

This weekend, we opened our table for the Awakening Gardens dinner series. Intimate evenings where the garden leads, the seasons speak, and every course tells the story of this place.

Limited seatings remain.
