Our hearts are heavy this morning. We lost our little Wednesday Adam’s yesterday. This, unfortunately, is just apart of homesteading and having livestock. Sometimes as their caretakers, we do everything we can for them, but God has different plans. This is the messy and not fun side of homesteading. Homesteading is so rewarding but it has its challenges and trying days! We just have to continue to move forward and continue to care for our animals in spite of the bad times!

We should allow children to be children. I get criticized often because I drastically limit screen time for my daughter, but I believe she should use her imagination and play, color, etc. We don’t do YouTube kids, she doesn’t have a cell phone, etc. I want her to make memories, play with her cousins, and just be a kid. ❤️

So true yall! ❤️
When I found homesteading, I discovered what really mattered! It’s not materialistic things anymore, it’s providing a better, cleaner way of living. It’s teaching my daughter how to be self-sufficient and do things for herself! It’s about slowing down and enjoying the beauty in life! ❤️

I 100% agree with this!! Stewardship has really made us slow down because animals don’t care about our timelines. They depend on us to provide and give them the best possible care we can. Animals teach us how to slow down and be more patient! ❤️

100%! Let’s break the cycle and prove them wrong! Culture says you need to be dependent on other companies and people to provide for you and your family but they are wrong. Let’s bring back old, traditional skills and values.

Yep. Sooooo be it. 50 it is 🤣🤣🤣. I know you fellow chicken tenders will agree that chicken math is real! 🤣

Homemade Coffee Creamer

Another thing we make on the homestead is coffee creamer! This caramel coffee creamer is beyond easy to make.

All you need is:
1 quart mason jar with lid and ring
Caramel (or whatever you want to flavor it with. You could do Vanilla if you wanted as well - I also do not measure this. I season with my heart. HAHA).
1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
1 cup milk (I do mine not so thick, so I use 2 cups in mine)

Pour the ingredients into your mason jar, put the lid and ring on, then shake to mix. It's THAT easy! Now you have homemade coffee creamer. I put the date I made it on the lid. I store mine in the fridge for about a week (I typically use it up within a week).

Tip: you can make your caramel from scratch as well. I didn't have time this week, but here is the recipe for homemade caramel sauce:

Items needed:
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk, but the cream gives it a creaminess).
1/2 - 1 teaspoon salt
Optional - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
Heat up the sugar on medium heat. Constantly stir so it doesn't burn.
Add in your butter once the sugar is melted. Use a whisk to mix it all up and make sure it's all melted.
Add in your heavy cream or milk.
Add in your salt.
Once it's reached a good thickness, take a spoon and dip it into the sauce and add it to a chilled plate. The sauce should be thick and glossy with a smooth texture. If the sauce is too thin, cook it for a few more minutes.
