Definitely did not track my crabfeast cook like I meant to - had too much going on and got delayed by the waterslide putting some extra time crunch into the cook. I did at least get some picks of the prep. Feedback told me that the tomahawk, brisket, and wings were the big hits this year. Crabs were really fat too. I think I agree, although the pig shoulder was also in the mix (hams got a little drier than I wanted). It was only the 2nd cook on the old country bbq, but it got great smoke flavor and held temp within a few degrees. It was a great time!

Crabfeast - Meat mountain 2026

39 lbs brisket
22.5 lbs tomahawk
30-35 lb pig (in body bag in the back haha)
15 lbs wings
16.5 lbs ribs (6 racks)
20 lbs burgers
2 lbs brats
3 lbs hot dogs

148-153 lbs of meat to be cooked by 5 pm tomorrow. Plus the crabs, which I would guess about another 100lbs. Got my work cut out for me for the next 36 hours!

Thanks to Hickman's Meat Market for the bulk of the meat! Probably need to just include the burgers and dogs in my order there next year. Also, thanks to Snake River Farms for the wagyu briskets.

Preparation is underway for the annual Crabfeast! Slowly adding more and more food as well as making adjustments every year to improve the results and timing was one of the biggest things that led me into competition BBQ.

At the moment, I don't have much to show beyond my whiskey table for this year, but I plan to post some updates throughout my cooking process, likely starting Friday when I pickup the rest of the meat. Counting the crabs, we will be up to approximately 240-250 lbs of meat pending final weigh-ins. I stopped counting the whiskey bottles at 100, and then the "secret" stash section will be available as always.

Gonna be a busy and fun weekend!

Beach meals are the best meals, and yesterday was a perfect day for it.

Another fun competition is in the books! Had a great time competing in the KSQUE competition at the Kennett Square Creamery. KCBS competition didn't go quite as well as I hoped, finishing 10th overall, with the ribs being a particular letdown. But we were happy to tie for 3rd in the people's choice wings using my crabfeast staples (My Favorite Things Wings and Chesapeake Hot)! I didn't have a lot of time to enjoy it, but it was also great having the wife and kids come by to see us compete.

Congratulations to Fire and Shine and Zoni Q for GC and RGC! Also to Rough Cut Q and Oink and Doink for tying for 1st in wings!

At the moment, we have a bit of a break scheduled as we prepare for a nice, local competition - the First State Bash in Milford, DE on September 26th!

Sorry - results are in. Hope all of you who finished 2nd place and below also had a great father's day!
