These babies aren’t ready for the oven just yet. 🍪✨

Did you know some cookie dough gets even better with a little rest? Aging cookie dough allows the flour to fully hydrate and gives all those delicious flavors time to mingle and deepen. The result? Richer flavor, better texture, and a more irresistible cookie.

This Father’s Day weekend’s featured cookie is currently chilling and developing its magic. It’s my husband’s all-time favorite and was a special request for my market menu on Saturday. Better leave him one!❤️

Can you guess Troy’s favorite cookie? Comment 👇

✨ Tuesday Tea Talk ✨

Ever wonder where “tea time” actually came from? 🫖

While many people associate afternoon tea with Queen Victoria, the tradition is most often credited to Anna, Duchess of Bedford in the 1840s. At the time, dinner was served much later in the evening, and she reportedly began requesting tea with bread, butter, and small cakes to help bridge the long wait between meals.

What started as a practical little afternoon pick-me-up soon became a social ritual. Friends were invited, tables became prettier, sandwiches and sweets appeared… and afternoon tea was born.

As tea culture spread through Europe and later America, tea rooms became something special of their own—not just places to sip tea, but places where women could gather, socialize, host meetings, and enjoy public spaces more independently than many traditional establishments allowed at the time.

Today, tea time still feels a little magical to me. Not because of fancy china or strict rules—but because it gives us permission to pause, connect, and enjoy something simple.

Tell me… if you were planning your perfect tea time, what’s on your tray? Scones? Cookies? Tea sandwiches? A slice of cake? ☕🍰

🌿 UPDATE — Tea Blending Workshops at Tee Lake 🌿

After chatting with a few of you and looking at summer schedules, I’ve decided to make a small change to my workshop dates.

Several people mentioned weekday work schedules, volunteer commitments, and summer activities were making it difficult to attend, so I’m moving the workshops to Sunday afternoons in hopes that more people can join me lakeside.

These gatherings are meant to be relaxed, seasonal, and easy to enjoy—not another thing to squeeze into an already busy week.

Who else loves an enchanted forest? It’s one of the gardens I’m working towards at our place. Kinda. Of course I have my little fairy gardens around. However, My father and I were working towards a path thru my woods with possible Bigfoot sightings and other little vignettes thru the woods. I was able to get a small collection of tree faces hung. On his last trip up before he passed, he bought me a little Bigfoot yard stake to place in the woods along the pathway. The first “sighting” if you will. Well, then we had the ice storms. All of my hard work became impassible. Last week, I started the work of rebuilding that pathway. I know it’s going to take me a long time to get even the first little leg of it done, but the work doesn’t seem as hard when I think about my dad and I dreaming up little scenarios for the paths… like a piece of fur caught on a branch. He’s not here to help me plan the little sightings, so I’m looking for more ideas that might make a certain little grandsons imagination believe big foot is really out there. Whatcha got for me?

Thanks to everyone who came out to the market to support my small business today. I especially appreciate those who played catch when the wind picked up and carried away parts my tea display. I look forward to seeing you again next weekend. It will be busy with the car show and Fathers Day.

Quick reminder that I will have tickets for the Garden Clubs Garden Tour on July 11th available at my booth.

I’d also like to invite you to attend the first of what I hope to be a regular offering garden tea event at Tee Lake on June 23rd at 3pm. This is a Tuesday. Plan on about an hour or so. This months feature is centered on Chamomile. Message or call for details or to register (payment when you come in case of weather cancellation). Limited to 15. See my previous post for the flyer.

Again, thanks for stopping by Tee Lake Treats & Tea.

Oh, and if you were brave enough to try my special bake, Chili Crisp Chocolate Chunk, how did you enjoy the sweet and heat combo?

✨ Tuesday Tea Talk ✨

Did you know that black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong tea, and pu-erh all come from the very same plant?

The tea plant, Camellia sinensis, can be processed in different ways to create dramatically different flavors, aromas, and colors. Green tea is minimally oxidized, black tea is fully oxidized, and oolong falls somewhere in between. White tea is made from the youngest leaves and buds and undergoes very little processing.

Just like wine grapes, tea is also influenced by its terroir—the climate, soil, elevation, and growing conditions of the region where it is grown. The same tea plant grown in different parts of the world can produce remarkably different cups.

So what about chamomile, peppermint, rooibos, or hibiscus?

Technically, these aren’t teas at all—they’re tisanes, or herbal infusions. Rooibos comes from a South African shrub, while chamomile, peppermint, lavender, and countless other botanicals are herbs, flowers, fruits, or spices steeped in water.

Whether it’s a traditional tea or a soothing herbal tisane, there’s a whole world of flavor waiting in your cup. 🫖

Were you surprised to learn that black, green, white, and oolong tea all come from the same plant?

They should, but the sun is out. Change of plans. Rainy days are also good for testing new recipes. If you’re feeling adventurous, come see me this Saturday at the Lewiston Farmers Market. I’ve been taking some risks that I hope you will like.

Rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and good book.
