Our great protector dog works again. She has chased off so many predators that we have had on the farm and continues to work so hard to keep us safe. She was bit by a Coyote a couple of days ago and unfortunately it became infected. Even when she isn’t feeling well she watches my back at the vet and is always on guard. I really and truly think this dog would lay her life down for us and for the chickens, ducks, and horses. I have seen it with my own eyes so many times. This dog is no doubt the most loyal, loving, and protective nanny dog and I am so glad she is going to be just fine. Huge thank you to South Rowan Animal Hospital for seeing us today. They were so kind and thorough! Daisy was on her best behavior and she was so sweet while they worked on her.

Our chickens got some chicken saddles today. Although I’m pretty excited about their new cute little outfits…. Chicken saddles are extremely functional and needed when you have two Roosters in with your hens. No more missing back feathers or wounds 🙌🏽🐔
 They are handmade by a local lady in our Community who is a Vietnam Veteran. 💪🏻

Juneteenth (Part 1 of 2)
More than 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, on June 19, 1865, some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in state, were free by executive decree.
The hardships that were endured through slavery were horrendous and honestly there are no photos I could bear to depict that accurately. However this photo story is meant to honor the idea of the last slave receiving the news of the decree and walking towards freedom.
I will ALWAYS support the celebration of Juneteenth in keeping with the old adage that "None of us are truly free until we are ALL FREE!"
