What started this past weekend as a little dumpiness, turns into a little snot by Sunday, then a funky, but familiar smell by Monday. Into the dentist Dillon went by midday Monday. Dillon is one of our seniors whose teeth have stopped growing and many of his molars are occlusal to bone. His primary meals are mash but still loves some hay. Tooth extracted, nasal cavity tapped and flushed, antibiotics for the next 10 days. He is home and really not thrilled about not going back to his pasture with his girls. So glad we caught this early. So glad Moore Equine Dentistry is 3 miles down the road.

The smell of fresh hay just baled last week, our poor tractor struggled to lift these new guys. Love our grower we definitely get our moneys worth. They have all been put up in the hay shed with the help of my brother in law Ward. Just an fyi if your family and you visit you get put to work.🤣

Everyone welcome the Thomas Family to Liberty Hill, this is Pickle she will not be a permanent resident, she just a layover stay for 10 days till their new house is ready for move in and the small stock that transferred with the property are vet cleared. A wrap to a good week. JJ got a clean bill of health after his battle with pneumonia (I’m sure antibiotics 5 times a day had something to do with that) Ophelia finished her quarantine period as an out of state horse and has since found her freedom to be in the lower left with JJ, Thunder and Riley. Center alley way is almost complete, new gate added and water temporarily mounted till we get the old shelter pulled down and the new one rebuilt. Trees have been trimmed around the barn and the arena…so poor Nancy won’t smack her head anymore. All escapee remaining chickens have been wrangled (sadly one succumbed to dangers of the wild) definitely made the others want to return to the safety of the coop. All in all a good week.

What a week, one of our older horses was rushed in last Saturday night with pneumonia to Salado (thanks a lot up and down weather for that one) a ton of antibiotics, pain meds and probiotics to balance it all out, he is doing fine and will have a follow up on the 10th. One confirmed heartbeat for Jewel from the OB vet..yeah new foal to come in spring stay tuned. Everyone on the ranch vaccinated (West Nile included)less the two mentioned above. New horse from Missouri has settled in nicely, and she’s done a great job playing nurse maid to JJ in his recovery. All in all a productive week, did I mention I actually had time to bathe my own 2 horses.🤣

A big Roberts Ranch welcome to Leigh and Skylar. They bring us Charlie & Chevalita (Chevy for short) both are OTTB…and super sweet. They have both settled in nicely and are loving the bantering from each of the pastures. Dillon met Charlie first and I believe a friendship has already formed.🥰
