This week is kicking my butt, and it was only Wednesday!?

Today was like a whirlwind and tomorrow…not looking any lighter. I will post the winner of the secret word contest tomorrow night, I just don’t have the energy tonight. I’m so sorry. Maybe I’ll give away two since they’re late. 😜💜

I learn something every hatch- this time it was that staggered hatching sucks! I now have three batches of chicks who do not want to live together. 😤

And the Salmon Favs, wait till y’all see them! But…they are not just clowns, they are absolute maniacs! Toe eating, fall in the water over and over, never stop peeping, fight the biggest cockerel immediately, chicks ever!

Five ended up hatching, so they are going to have to audition to get into the cast. 😆

It’s all getting shook up this weekend, and we can’t wait to bring you the next episode revealing the cast changes. I might be quiet but know there’s ALOT happening behind the scenes right now.

The secret to gender in chicks:

Honestly, why is it the sweetest chicks are always boys!? 🥺

Forget wing and tail feathers, it’s all about “do they jump up on your lap (boys) or panic run whenever you get near (girls)?”

That’s how to determine gender in chicks. 😆

Me, I like boys. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This song is extra funny to me as one of the birds is in fact a “Mississippi boy”, as the lyrics say. 😜

Day 18 of 30 Days of Joy 🤗

Whimsy Willow's Acre challenged me to share something that brings a smile to my face for the next 30 days, and honestly… this shouldn’t be too hard around here. 😂

💜 Today's Joy: Teaching 🍎 the one thing at life I am best at (besides making stellar chicken videos 😆) is my chosen profession. I have been in education for 21 years, have a master’s degree in gifted education, and work with neurospicy kids-my favorite!

When I first started teaching though, I taught art, and loved it. I used to say I got paid to color. Seeing my students create beautiful art works was awesome.

These two pieces were made by the same girl, who in 8th grade, already far surpassed my artistic talent. The first is a metal face/head/brain. She pieced every tiny piece of metal together to make the face and poured a resin brain to suspend inside the skull. This is the only piece of art I ever bought from a student, and I paid her a pretty penny for it. 🥹

The second one was originally a self portrait by a fourth grader. The assignment was to redesign an artwork (made by someone else) utilizing two elements of art to improve the artwork. Her drawing (on the right) literally stopped me and her classmates in our tracks, as that was the moment we all discovered her secret skill. Wow 🤯

Ok, so here’s the deal. My second episode this season was a mess. I couldn’t choose a direction, I had three versions I ended up trying to smash together. It was a cute camping idea but way too much, including being two minutes long. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

So, to incentivize it, I slapped a prize on it to encourage watches. I’ve only had 5 people enter the contest though, and I want more!!!

I have tried promoting it many different ways and not gotten very far. This is my LAST attempt to add more names to the prize wheel. The wheel spins this week.

🖼️ So here are photo examples of the prize, a hand painted custom ornament, shipped to your door. You send me a photo, I paint it faceless for you. These make amazing gifts (not to early to start thinking about the holidays) and retail for $40+!
