Training a Lab around birds is a little different than training a Border Collie... 😂

One thing that definitely helps is how calm our birds are. All of our livestock are pretty well dog-broken at this point, so they’re used to dogs moving around them and don’t immediately panic or take off. That makes training a new dog around them a whole lot simpler!

You’ll notice just how calm these quail are while all of this is going on. 🐶🐦😂

There were 3 even though I only got a picture of 2, someone needed a little longer to dry.

Well, that's a new one... 😅

One of the quail decided to lay a shell-less egg! It's not something we see every day, but every now and then Mother Nature likes to keep things interesting.

Last night I finally put a tomato cage around one of the volunteer tomato plants growing near the pig pen. 🍅🐖

It came up pretty late, so it'll be a little while before it's producing, but now comes the fun part...

Quail Available This Weekend! 🐥

We've got a limited number of 5-week-old unsexed quail ready for new homes. The hens will be laying before you know it!

It was a small hatch, but oh so special. ❤️

We may be slowing down, but we never really stop. This time of year is all about focusing on those last special birds that we'll be growing out for next year's spring show season.

Looks like Chickapalooza 2026 is never going to end... 🐣🐓

We got most of our hay in last weekend... at least the small square bales. 🌾

You can only imagine how much fun it is hand-throwing every bale into that loft. 😅

I think I can fit maybe a few more bales up there... but the trailer is still full. 🤣
