This guy was brutal. My garage was too cold and my flame wasn’t big enough so one end kept cooling off too much so I had to go back and forth three times 🤦‍♂️. At least it turned out beautifully. Sometimes they’re quick and sometimes they take forever. Glad that got shipped off!

I’ve always said retinning is equal parts chemistry, art, and magic. When I think I’ve controlled all the variables, wild things still happen. It’s immensely difficult and yet incredibly rewarding.

Believe it or not, rust really isn’t an issue when it comes to Cast Iron handles. I don’t think I’ve come across a single one that can’t be shined up and cleaned. A lot of people prefer brass— what about you?

If you’ve been hesitant about starting your copper collection because of how expensive it can be, just start small and take your time. Smaller pieces are also cheaper to retin if they need it.
