I want to know more about this!

Engineers at Kyoto University have created a tiny renewable energy device a humidity-powered generator about the size of a matchbox that pulls electricity from moisture in the air. Unlike solar or wind, it works continuously, day and night, with no moving parts and no need for sunlight or flowing water.

The technology uses a layered nanofilm that turns humidity into a steady electrical current. In field tests across rice paddies in Southeast Asia, the device powered sensors and transmitters with no maintenance, showing it can operate reliably even in challenging outdoor conditions.

Researchers say this breakthrough could pave the way for new possibilities from walls and tents to equipment and clothing that quietly generate power from the surrounding air. A glimpse into a future where energy is lighter, simpler, and always available.
