Unfortunately, not every vet knows goats. Those who don’t will treat a goat more like a cow.

Always have a goat knowledgeable veternarian saved in your phone in case of emergencies.

Sulfur for Skin Conditions

Sulfur is hands down my favorite remedy for virtually all skin conditions. We've used it for eczema, leg mites, ear mites, staph, and other conditions successfully in our family and with the goats.

A simple recipe:

2-3 tablespoons organic yellow sulfur powder
1/2 cup solid coconut oil

Melt the coconut oil in a double boiler and add the sulfur, stirring well to combine. Pour into your container and allow to harden. The sulfur will settle some but it's okay to use all parts of the salve anyway.

You can add tea tree, lavender, or lemongrass essential oils for treating mites, about 1/2 teaspoon total.

Apply liberally to all affected areas twice daily for several days. Rest, then apply again if needed.

I’ve heard good things about this family business. I had to have a regular farrier come out for one of my goats because she came to me on her knees and has a very bad overgrowth problem. The farrier has helped her to get back on her feet again. I sold her and bought her back again in January and had to dry her up and take her off large amounts of grain. Her hooves grow too fast on grain. She will be permanently retired because of her hoof issues.

What do ya mean…you haven’t had your goats hooves trimmed in awhile?!

No foot, no goat. Over time, overgrown hooves will cause permanent deformity, arthritis and tendon/ligament strain.

Let’s get your goats scheduled for some maintenance! PM to schedule.
