Mo Beef Kids works with school foodservice and local partners to champion beef in schools and share the story of beef nutrition in the cafeteria and classroom.

Jefferson C-123 School is beefing up school lunches! šŸŒ® Students celebrated Beef Day, enjoying locally raised beef tacos from Farnan Cattle Co. of Stanberry as part of Mo Beef Kidsā€™ Farm to School Month outreach.

Elementary Principal and cattle producer Caden Farnan helped make more local beef on the lunch tray possibleā€”creating a unique opportunity to connect PreK-12 students with the face and farm behind their protein packed school lunch.

A special thank you to the school foodservice crew and Northwest Missouri State University student Natalie Foster for making Beef Day possible!

Thank you to Opaa! Food Management, Inc. and Jeannie Putman, Kennettā€™s Director of Nutrition Services, for hosting our Mo Beef Kids Powered by Protein foodservice meeting, part of the USDA Patrick Leahy Farm to School project!

Opaa! teams explored ways to beef up school lunches, navigate local sourcing and build sustainable beef programs.

Thanks to Chartwells K12 for allowing us to be a part of their Foodservice Director meeting in St. Louis this week.

Directors learned about the Mo Beef Kids program and how to expand beef in schools. They also heard from current participating schools.

Thanks to Jordan Herefords for providing the beef for our school lunch style taco bar and being a face for Missouriā€™s beef farmers and ranchers.

This event kicked off our U.S. Department of Agriculture Patrick Lehay Farm to School grant activities, as we learn more from school foodservice and celebrate beef on the tray this fall.
