We packed up some sachets this morning for a conference and I had the sweetest little helper….

Being both a homemaker and a lavender farmer is a bit funny and wild sometimes. Having the kids be a part of our business is a gift.
It shows them valuable life skills beyond just entrepreneurial skills…
🪻 It teaches them grit.
🪻It teaches them to fight for what they want.
🪻 It teaches them to connect with nature.
🪻It teaches them to serve others.

Many of you may not know, but my husband and I are the ONLY ones who run our lavender farm. So often that means we fill orders when we get our three kids to bed and after we tend to our 36 chickens, 9 ducks and 3 dogs. So that looks like me turning our kitchen to a lavender prep space at 11pm while we talk about our days.

🦬Such a BEAUTIFUL weekend with Flint Hills Bison Company 🦬 ! We had a crazy storm roll in and witnessed a pretty crazy flash flood on Robbie and Christina’s property. We got to have a truly once in a lifetime experience being up close and personal with a herd of bison. It was truly UNFORGETTABLE!

We have some new farm additions!

We have 9 ducklings and 20 hens!

We have too few hens per rooster so we added to our flock. Mr. Silver Fox is being a bit of a bully. So we will see how he does.

Next, our ducklings. I’ve wanted ducks pretty much my whole life. Next to horses and dogs, they are at the top of my list for dream animals. They have been an absolute BLAST! Ducks have such personalities. They get the zoomies. It’s ADORABLE.

Let’s talk Black Friday….

We’ve gone back and forth about doing a sale. But ultimately we’ve decided not to do one this year. Not because we don’t want to give our customers a great deal. We do! However as a brand new business I think something people don’t realize is that we would take a loss doing a sale.

We work incredibly hard to bring high quality lavender that’s hand harvested. No machine work. Just myself and my husband with sickles in hand harvesting one bush at a time sun up to sun down at peak harvest.
All the jewelry was made by me (Lizzie) hand knotted. Some pieces took several hours over several days. Each stone was hand picked by me. We worked directly with miners out west for every piece.

Farming for us isn’t just farming. It’s art. It’s life. It’s passion. We LOVE what we do. We LOVE our customers. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported or helped us.

Farm nights are a favorite around here…

We’ve been working a lot along our property fence lines. Our place was vacant for around a decade. During which time the land fell into disrepair. It has taken so much time to clear even small areas of fence. We have a MASSIVE poison ivy problem along the fence lines that need repairing. It’s a lot. It’s overwhelming.

So at the end of the long weekend days, after we’ve pulled the thorns from our clothes, we pour a glass of bourbon, maybe a cup of hot tea and build a fire with felled cedars. The fragrant sap oozing out of the wood and filling our noses as it burns.

There’s something about these nights that remind us we don’t need much to be happy.
