Summer means bright and colorful compost! What does your compost look like? ...no really, send us a pic of what your compost looks like. We want to see what kind of beauty comes from your daily meals so we can share with the world exactly why food is not waste.

Last month we donated 50% of our revenue between three fantastic organizations, all of which are doing important work in the fight for racial equality and justice. & are just a few of the organizations doing this kind of work. We are grateful for their work and proud of our community supporting us in supporting them.

As a small business focused on community and inclusion and change - we stand in support of and with all BIPOC communities.
There can be no environmental justice without racial justice.
Communities of color are disproportionately impacted by the negative effects of climate change. The same systems that were built to oppress Black, Indigenous and POC communities have created a world where more food deserts exist in these communities, more landfills are built in these communities and more health issues relating to and caused by environmental factors plague these communities.
These injustices are intertwined with the social injustices these communities face every day - and we can no longer stand idly by and accept it.
Sustainability is not an equal right. And we vow to do whatever we can as a small, community focused business to change that.
As a start to facilitating that change, we will be:
•donating 50% of our revenue for the month of June between , and
•we will no longer purchase from or support companies who don’t align with these values.
These steps are just the beginning, and as we continue to listen, learn and grow - we will continue the fight.

It took us over 6 months to pass 10k pounds of diverted organic material - and in less than 3 months we have doubled that.
Thank you to all of our partners and subscribers and supporters who are helping this project grow and helping facilitate change in our community.
Every single coffee filter, avocado pit, egg carton and pistachio shell is helping cultivate a mindset for progress within Long Beach. Every time you put an orange peel into your bucket, you are proving that small changes can add up to large changes, which can - with time - add up to even larger ones.
We are just getting started 🌱.

Did you all know it’s ? Inside each of the buckets we pick up is anything from coffee grounds to flower stems to pistachio shells. I am so proud to know that with each small part of every one of these buckets we are giving back to the earth. We are cultivating a community of people who believe that they can be doing more to create positive changes for the earth and for their community.
is about more than just nutrient rich soil- It’s about realizing that something so simple and so accessible can make so much difference.

Everyone of us is staying at home more and hopefully that means more home cooking and fuller buckets. 🥬🍃🌿

We are committed to doing what we can to continue to serve the residents of Long Beach - but in a time like this we need to be sure we are taking every precaution necessary. As of today we will take the following measures until further notice:
• Gloves will be worn for all pickups & drop-offs.
• All buckets will be disinfected after each pickup and before each drop-off.
• We will no longer enter any building or apartment complex.
• We will no longer accept a bucket that is overflowing or without a secured lid.

As of yesterday we have officially diverted over 10,000lbs of food waste from the incinerator and into nutrient rich soil! This is a small milestone but it is not insignificant. This is what happens when people join together to make a small difference. That number will only continue to grow. Thanks for all your scraps thus far!

Thanks to for their beautiful green waste! In just one weekend they helped divert 35lbs of flowers that would have otherwise ended up at the dump. People and businesses of all types can make a difference through composting and we are so lucky to have such sustainable florists like them in our community.
