Freshly harvested batch of our local California Buckwheat honey is in!
This comes from Eriogonum, the scrubby native shrub with the little white-pink flowers that covers every dry hillside around here. It blooms through the worst of the summer heat, when almost nothing else will, and our bees work it hard in July and August.
Here is the part that surprises people. It pours light amber, so you expect something thin and sweet, and instead it is rich. Deep caramel, and it stays with you. Put it on a warm biscuit, in yogurt, next to an aged cheese, or stirred into coffee.
You cannot really buy this outside Southern California. It is what these hills taste like in late summer.
Stock up on this highly medicinal and incredibly delicious honey.
Raw and unfiltered, bottled by the two of us in Temecula. 12 oz jars are $12, quarts are $25, half gallons are $45. Take four quarts and the fifth one is on us!
